Why Do Women Always Get Taken Advantage of For Their Car Repairs?

Knowledge is power, but some things we have to find out the hard way. I took my car to the shop to have the battery replace and that's what I asked for. Later when I picked up my car and paid the guy $83 dollars and looked at my receipt to find that there was no battery replaced, he only replaced the battery cable which cost $1.89 and the rest was labor. Now, I'm pissed for being taken advantage of although I should have known a battery wouldn't be that cheap. I could have put the cable on myself or atleast try in that much money. What fool am I! Its been a fact that some mechanics will take advantage of a woman's ignorance.

MONEY! They take advantage of women because they want your hard earned money!
I am a college student and they take advantage of us too. They know we want our cars fixed immediately and without our parents here to tell us what to do, they often quote us an arm and a leg.
Recently I started using Yelp.com to look up reviews of mechanics in the area I'm in. I avoid the mechanics that have reviews for ripping people off or whatever BAD things many mechanics do. I find it really helpful in narrowing down the good mechanics I can trust.
I also like to take my car to two places to get a second opinion. It takes some time on my part, but in the end I'm pretty satisfied because I feel like I got a deal and wasn't taken advantage of.

If you could get your car serviced and repaired through an organisation that manages thousands of vehicles on behalf of clients would you sign up to this? If they could act on your behalf and get you the same service they get for their thousands of cars and the same pricing, would you pay $100 a year for this.
I am looking a designing a service like this for wemon and men that will give them access to our corporate buying services and skills. Intersted in feedback.

If anyone ever did that to me, I'd march right back in there with the receipt, and give him hell infront of all the other customers, hopefully other women in there to warn. I'd also take him to the better business bureau for shoddy business. My mother never had that problem at car dealers, and car repair shops. She always goes in there and tells them straight up what she wants, checks everything, and if they try and give her flak, she gives 'em double trouble!! :)

I think this is a moral problem.there are many cases like this. They take advantage of woman not merely , If they feel you do not clearly know about this, they will take advantage of you. integrity and honesty are decreasing in current society.the people like me are decreasing....lol
