Things to do during maternity leave...

I worked my last day today and am starting maternity leave. I'm going to be induced Monday night and should have my LO Tuesday morning. I know that I will be plenty busy for the first couple of weeks but I've heard that mothers tend to get bored after a while on maternity leave. I am a crafty person but don't have the money for crafting supplies. I was wondering what kind of activities I can do while on maternity leave to avoid boredom and insanity. Any suggestions?

I guess this is your first delivery. So may be you are not sure of what to expect. The maternity leave is not a time of boredom. You may be occupied 24/7 depending on who is there to help you out. If your mother is there, you are lucky. After delivery is the recovery time. During this time, you have to take care of your back without straining. If you strain doing craft work, you may have back problems later. Make sure to lie flat allowing your back to regain back into good position. So do your craft work as knitting baby dress or sweaters now before delivery. Taking rest is most important!

Good luck wih your new little one! My advice is enjoy the time that you have while off! It goes way to fast, you are so busy caring for the baby and trying to get into a routine it will go very quickly!!

Good luck with the new little one. When I got home from having my son I was busy taking care of him (feeding, changing, holding, bathing, etc). I had a c-section with him so I couldn't do much anyway but take care of him and try to let myself heal. We had people come over and visit so that took up a big chunk of our days. I watched tv some and just held my baby a lot because I was so happy he was finally here.

Hi MMMDAC,
Wishing you good luck! We generally think we would get bored after few weeks of delivery; however, according to me, it is not so. You will never find time for at least the fist few months. I had an emergency c-section and had a pre-term baby. I didn't find time for at least first 6-8 months.
You may try your hands on data entry, virtual assistant, article writing, etc., if you have access to computer and internet.
Once again all the best for you and your yet-to-born.
