Apart from saving Private Ryan,Band of Brothers (TV) there are many others in which my favorites are Enemy at the Gates-A Russian sniper story, U-571- submarine fight between America and Germany,Pearl Harbor-japan attack on USA,Windtalkers-- based on code transmitters in pacific theater ,and the latest is Valkyrie- the plot to assassinate Hitler ,these are worth to watch

It depends on what war you are really looking for. Personally I love the Second World War movies best. I would recommend- The Longest Day, Saving Private Ryan, The Great Escape, Tora! Tora! Tora!, Midway, A Bridge Too Far. There are probably others that I cannot think of just now!

The best war movie I have seen is of course 'Saving Private Ryan'. If you want to get a similar or, if I dare say a better experience, I would recommend you to watch 'The Band of Brothers' series. I know it is not exactly a movie but if you get the chance do not miss it. It is mind blowing and very accurate. It has 10 episodes and they show everything a war has or requires; training, fighting, joy, pride, injuries, losses and last of all repentance. I am sure you will love it.
Lord of the Rings also had some great fighting scenes and wars. You can check that out.

I'm not sure if you have watched this movie. It's title is "Saving Private Ryan", it's a very cool and nice movie, realistic and has moral values. You should watch this if you still haven't. Cheers!
