im sorry to tell you but dial up is already obsolete. that kind of connection needs to be replaced. why don't you subscribe an internet connection and pay monthly. the pay is low and the connection is fast. i once had been using dial up and my blood pressure went high because of the delay of downloads and uploads.

My connection is always slow, but especially slow today. It is very aggrevating.

You should run Scandisk, virus scan and malware scan immediately. Often slowing down of connection occurs due to virus or malware infection.
Delete temporary Internet files. Optimize the temp files( Optimize your cache from tools-Internet options settings in IE, and tools- options - privacy tab in FireFox) and if you are using lots of add-ons in FireFox, disable them as many as possible.
Use Netstat command from your command prompt( netstat -b 5 activity.txt then Ctrl+C and check the activity.txt file)to see which programs are running and remove them from the task manager.
Hope it helps

Install a nice firewall. Firewall shows all software that connects to internet and howmuch each software is downloading and uploading. You can terminate any software access to internet. One such good firewall is Comodo Internet Security. it also comes with an antivirus which amazingly, is far better than many paid versions.

well, i think all dial up connection are the same with same speed there is nothing you can do,although i can say do some search about software that can increase your speed nowadays there are many softwares that in net that can boost your current speed, try that for size or you may wanna disconnect your dial up and subscribe a broadband internet connection with a plan that is cheap, anyway your choice, nowadays i have seen almost everyone subscribe broadband connection including me for a good performance and in terms of boosted speed while browsing.

There's no real way of making dial up any faster. The best thing to do is to try and subscribe to a broadband Interenet connection. I'm with AOL myself an I'm pretty happy and my connection is very fast. There will always be speed issues when it comes to dialup. Is broadband not available in your area? You should check this out. Good luck. Andrew

Maybe your computer is infected by a virus, a trojan or badly designed malware.
Those evil applications might eat up a lot of your bandwidth.
Have you had a antivirus software installed on your system ?
By the way, a dail up connection is slow technically.
You should switch to other alternative if there are other connection types avaiable.

Oh no. Have a look at your task bar and close the running programs out there. Dial up connection is no good. Maybe it's time that you have a dsl connection. But for the mean time try closing programs on your task bar tray.

May be you have disabled the updation of Operating Software but not of other programmes. Please check for other programmes like anti-virus, VLC player etc. And sometime computer get slowed when there are lot of temp files in the computer. So go to tools and then internet option and delete all temporary files. And then check the speed.
