Let´s share our secrets. Most of them surely are just common sense. For me it´s important to be as relaxed as I can. That´s why vacations are a very important part of my life. I love sitting on the sand in a beach, watching a sunset. Do you think vacations are part of health?
Many people have told me that if you change the task you are doing when you feel tired it will be almost as good as resting. I do that a lot too and I have found it helps. Even when I was young and was studying, I stopped every half an hour or so and went to the garden to do some digging. It seemed to put my ideas in order and I also felt I had rested. Do any of you do that?
What other things to you do to help our best friend: our immune stystem? Do you eat something special? Share

hi well as a diabetic I obviously already have a damaged immune system so to keep it going much better I do eat my veggies and fruits all the time, and eat just alittle meat. I try to stay
optimistic at all times. smile and laugh a lot, exercise and
always stay positive. all these help to make me happier and'
healthier too.

I hope it works! My husband was diabetic and my mother too so I know the importance of diet there. I´m glad you follow common sense rules for diabetics: it really makes a difference.

I drink a lot of fruit juices from a real fruits using a blender or a fruit juice extractor so I could get the purest juice. This is my way to extract vitamin C in its purest form. I do exercise to and bath on the morning sunshine every morning to get the Vitamin D. I also exercises twice a week and jog around the hill uphills and down hills. Then, i make sure to drink milk and avoid eating food rich in fats. I make sure i eat a balanced meals to get healthy body and calm mind too.

There are many things to keep us from getting sick. I think that being clean is one of them. But the wonderful thing about a good immune system is that it takes care of the germs that get into our body.

I have a list of things I do to boost my immune system. Let's see, well I try to get enough quality sleep in the night. Also try to decrease my stress level and not easily get upset, because that I find is when many people get sick, when they are upset. I have a friend of mine who stresses out so many about everything in her life, that she keeps getting cancers back and forth! The mind is so powerful more than most people realize. Anyway, I try to drink lots of water, eat healthy with lots of vegetables and protein and little crap or junk food, exercise regularly and keep your weight down as well. I also avoid negative people, even the news hour because I find it can be quite draining mentally. I also do things that give my pleasure, like being outside in nature, reading, just anything to relax the mind.

It is very important to keep ourselves young by keeping our heart as young as possible, which would help a lot for our immune system. When we meet the depression or fustration, we should have our ways to let them out otherwise it will accumulated enought to break out. That is why the Yoga is popular to relax ourselves. For me, I would like to see the far away sky in the middle of the night, then take a deep breath towards that direction, I felt that every bothering will disappear from that moment, assumed that the sky can take it away.
To boost the immune system, apart from the psychological way, it is critical to absorb enough vitamin and protein to keep our boby run. I did not mean to take the vitamin or protein medicine for extra absorption, I just take it from the healthy food.
Happy mylotting.

What kind of supplemens? I have found that many supplements have just a tiny bit of this and that so it´s better to take the vitamins one by one.

I'm very glad i live in a small town, i would not like living in a big city. Yes, my grandogs are still here. &*&^%%%$ they bark soooooo much, drives me nuts & i'm sure my neighbors to. My son siad it would probably be the first of the year before they bought a place, &^%$%#$. I love seeing the kids every day when they come to feed them but really didn't think they'd be here that long. HAVE A GREAT DAY.

It´s true that we are all different. I´m always amazed at how unique each of us is. I think that I wouldn´t need vacations so much if I didn´t live in a big city. Big cities are made to give stress.
Take care and a bg hug! Do you still have dog tennants at home?

Hi,narguicha, nice discussion.Actually immune system is controlled by many factors.Apart from some hereditary resistance to some diseases, food, stress both physical and mental effects the immune system.
Food-you have to take food, see that all vitamins, proteins and minerals should be there and especially vit-c[Amla,guava fruit etc] which enhances resistance.
Physical and mental stress create imbalance in excretion of enzymes in our body effects badly on our immune system.
Don't think much and be happy. We don't have control on future,so why we worry. This is my policy.Have a nice and happy time.

It´s funny that you say that we have to "not think much and be happy". Sometimes you are happy when you are thinking, because of it. I love to think and to learn. Since I read your profile today I have been thinking on thet tree and what use can we give it to lessed the effects of global earth warming. I´m a curious witch, my friend. That is not worrying but expanding our horizons.
As for the immune system, I, like you, think that it is controlled by several factors. But it is also true that many people don´t know how important it is.
Take care!

i think that the better way to improve our immune system is to eat a lot of vitamins, and we can find them inside the fruit and vegetables. There are a lot of vitamins, and our body needs them all, we can find C vitamin inside oranges, it's a good way to protect our self from flu. Eat meat and other kind of things from animals is important too, to get iron and other substances.

Vitamins and minerals are very important. So are proteins, present in meat. We need proteins to get the esential aminoacids.

I do a variety of things to boost my immune system.
First of course, is avoiding stress. Listening to soothing CDs such as classical or meditative CDs is at the top of the list. I also use some vitamins and herbal teas to help. Walking is also another favorite activity to get me relaxed--while it does get my heart rate up at first, I start to slowly start to relax, and chill out...

I agree with the fact that being relaxed and calm boosts the immune system. I am a therapist and I practice zazen (Zen meditation) every day and teach my clients how to do so also. There is no doubt about it, that meditation can lead to a better quality of life and health.
I rarely take holidays these days, as I never feel I need one and I've been to most places anyway. Being mindful and absorbed in any hobby or work has a calming effect. In Zen the aim is to be mindful of what you are doing. There is a link on my profile to more information on meditation should anybody be interested. - Derek

adequate sleep is at the top of the list. we take vitamins daily and the ones that are most important for immune health especially like c and d. if for some reason we have to be on an antibiotic which i try to avoid we take acidophilus to keep the good bacteria in our digestive systems. i eat as much fruit and vegetables daily as possible and since my son does not i make sure he drinks orange juice or eats sweet potatoes and he takes many different vitamins for children. trying to have fun and laughing are important to immune health too as stress is not good for anyone.

I just eat right and exercise well. I do everyday exercise that could keep my body resistant to any causative agents that would lower my immune system. I believe that being overweight can disrupt the normal hormonal balance of the body. Exercise takes stress away. Stress is the number one cause of common diseases.Eating a balance diet feeds my system substances that are needed for normal functions. I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits.A good vacation makes me really relaxed.
