Well I posted how the other one had bit the dust. Well after someone mentioned I should contact the company & see what they could do for me, I did. Though I thought since I only spent $26 on the thing I wasn't out too much, even if every penny counts now days. So they finally replied after I e-mailed them earlier last week. 1-2 business day reply my tushie! So ironically I used my NEW crock that I bought the other night YESTERDAY! And today I get the response from Crock-pot that they are going to replace my unit! Well isn't the timing just awful. So NOW I will have 2 crock-pots & one for spare parts. YEASH! I"m glad they are going to replace it w/o my reciept or any fuss but still. I spent money on another crock and I can't return it since I used it. GRRRRRRR.... & YAY @ the same time.

Don't despair! The new one that's coming will make a great Christmas gift for someone! If you like, you can donate it to your church or school and take it off your gross income on your taxes. Or you can even sell it to a neighbor that needs one--mark it down half price and you both win! Don't growl, be creative!

*LOL* I was thinking the same thing of donating it, keeping it... seeing how my luck has been 2 in under 6mo's... , Or giving it as a gift but I don't have anyone to really gift it to. Your so spunky today Dragon!

I don't feel spunky, it's all and act! I had to do some shopping today and I think I must've walked five miles. I'm ready for bed and it's only 5:45pm! Bed will feel really good tonight.

Well ya sounded spunky to me! Maybe all that walking gave you a lil something extra other than feeling tuckered out. I feel that way today it's absolutly gloomy and icky out. Makes a person wonder if we live in London or Seattle?

I actually have three crockpots now. I usually buy them second hand because they last forever. I have a smaller one that I do not know where it came from I think my mother bought it new decades ago. I have another one little bigger but I'm sure we bought it used at a yard sale. The smaller one works great but sometimes I need a bit more space especially for large roasts. I was at the Goodwill store that sells used stuff a few weeks ago and found a large oval crock pot that was on for half price. I don't suppose I really needed another crock pot but I think I will appreciate the extra space on the fact that it is oval when I get a large roast. Thanks for reminding me about the crock pots I will go and put on my new oval one with one of the roasts I got yesterday, it is too late for tonight's supper but I can still have for tomorrow.

Honestly I don't see too much cookware 2nd hand. I saw a stock pot @ a rummage & hubby wouldn't let me get it. Despite the enamil on ours was chipped off in spots & I basically refuse to use it. I should toss it out I suppose. The only good deal I've found 2nd hand was a stove top Wok that looked like it was never even used with a lid and all for like $5 otherwise I usually just find utenisls.... and the way my kids don't put their dishes back... I tell ya it was the sock monster not it's the utensil monster! *LOL*

Yeah some how that stock pot got a big dent in a corner. Perhaps hubby bought it that way? But it's chipped there on the inside & out. I think I would like to get a nice steel one next time. As I love making big vats of chicken noodle soup so I can have left overs for a few days! YUMMMMMMY! As the large pot that came with my set really only does perhaps a days worth of left overs in it... especially seeing now we are feeding 5 instead of just the two of us. And as kids grow so do their appetites.

I am a regular visitor to the local Goodwill, it is not very often there is something I need, however being a regular visitor increases my chances of finding something. It is usually more convenient to buy a new appliance as there is always a chance the used appliance does not work if it has not been checked out properly. Enamel cookware is great until it becomes chipped. If it is a canner, it should not be a big problem as food would not come in contact with the metal, and it is steel anyway which is not poisonous.

so now you can make 2 things at once, or have a party and have 2 hot things going at once

I was thinking about that. You know we're hosting the holiday I think from now on since the IL's got sick, but ya know I hate cold mashed potatoes... & Aldi did have a lil dity for 3 things to keep them warm, but $39 I do not have for something that gets used a few times a year.

i'd just take it anyway and put it away. crockpots don't seem to last as long as they used to.it's always nice to have spares.

Nothing seems to last as long as it used to. But most of us know why that is.... cheap labor, cheaper materials = higher profits & disposable products (not the Green kind of disposable either, the kind that are cheap enough to buy another but no one can actually fix or repair themselves.

hi 3snugglebunnies wow now you have two crock pots.well you cannot say you do not have a crock pot. he he. I was just thinking of when I left the rehab center after physical therapy for my shoulder joint replacement. I had to have a quad cane as my sense of balance was off. So they measured me for a cane and it came. so when I was dismissed I of course took the cane with me, well I got billed for two quad canes. seems that two different nurses both ordered the cane at the same time. so for six months I kept getting this bill for my copay on the cane that I did not have. it was sitting in the administrators office and I kept writing a note each time I got the bill telling them to contact the administrator and take back their cane. finally they did do that and I received an apology but only after six months. grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Sounds like quite a PITA bout trying to get them to return a cane they had in their posession that you did not need. That's really sad that it took them 6mo's to read your note.

That's awesome! It's always nice when a company makes good on their products. Maybe you could use your new crock pot as a Christmas gift for someone? It's brand new and they make just great gifts.

I was surprised too especially since I didn't have the reciept or box anymore. Usually you see that "must have proof of purchase" aka a reciept & one thinks... how long does anyone keep these slips anymore especially since most are thermal paper and the "print" will disappear in time anyway? Everything is so "disposable" now days we don't always think about keeping your slips, boxes ect we just go out and get another. KWIM?

Do you have anyone on your Christmas list that you could give one of the new crockpots as a gift? It would make a good one.

The in-laws don't like crock pots. My uncle is paranoid about leaving an appliance on when you are not home so they don't use theirs. Really everyone I know has one or doesn't use one for one reason or another.
