I know that there are 180,000 people on MyLot, so why arent there more people posting discussions? i know a lot of people have things to say but it seems to me that i see the same people posting things. I realize that there a lot of inactive users and people who are only on here to create tasks but there is still a lot of people who could be voicing their opinions but only respond and comment. Any ideas on why they remain silent?

When a new discussion is posted it goes to 'no responses' first until it receives a response. There you can see ALL the discussions that are posted. I keep a tab open to that page and keep refreshing it and then rarely miss many. I am one of those that doesn't post many at all because once I start one I stick with it, commenting backwards and forwards on all the responses and not always have I enough time available to do that so I prefer just flitting about. Welcome to myLot!

I hope it will help you too! You will probably be amazed at so many different topics if you had not used that tab before. Thank you for the BR and happy FUN Lotting!

Thank you Tingtong! Yes I do seem to be receiving quite a few I just type a sincere response with no intention of trying hard to get one I assure you. Where I can, especially when helping the new users on those repeat topics, I even avoid responding and just comment so that there will be no chance of it being mine

Hi Brad, I think there are a lot more people out there posting discussios than you think, just many of them never get seen or are totally uininteresting. Apart from my friends list I rarely have time to respond to other discussions unless I spot them on my home page where yours was just sitting. I spend a lot of time commenting back on my own discussions. Re the 180,000 it's been guesstimated in the past that the figure is more likely to be around 5000 active users.

sometimes i find it hard to be creative in starting a new topic that hasnt been covered before. i maybe start a new topic once a week or so but also, i just dont have a lot of time to mylot either.

for me as a two years mylot member i give chance to the new members to open their discussions. its fun winning friends and its fun to know them better whats on their minds. i start a discussion twice or three times a month, i also respond to my friends discussion if i know what they are talking about. i also surf around and find what i can respond. the new members has a lot more on their minds i experienced that too when i was new but as years go by its hard to think a discussion specially when you see a similar discussion already around.

I am one person guilty of that. I do have other things that I have to attend to. Sometimes, I could not find any interesting topics to post. I am actually running out of ideas to post.

based on my experience, not all members on myLot are native speakers or good in English... some of them don't know how to start a topic, some of them don't know how to use myLot menu...

hello Brad2289, in my own opinion, maybe because they are afraid that they will receive few response or no response incase they will start a new discussion. maybe they might find it not interesting that's why they are not posting. maybe the discussion that in their mind has already been posted before. just maybe.....

I guess it's because most discussions don't get many responses, so people, like me for example, prefer to just respond than start discussions. Also, some wold rather voice their opinions through responding to discussions they're interested in, especially if the topic they'd like to voice their opinion on has already been created.

Sometimes I have a hard time thinking what discussions to post, so what I am doing everyday is to go back to my discussions posted and answer the responses of mylot members and post my responses to discussions I feel I have enough knowledge.

There are lots of inactive members here in Mylot. I had about 15 referrals and they are all inactive. I guess many other people have inactive referrals. Among those who are active, they have different interests and usually do not respond to discussions which they do not know about. My sister avoids discussions regarding computers. Moreover, a person is active for maybe 3-4 hours and it is impossible to respond to all the discussion.

I only make one or two posts a day. I feel more comfortable responding to interesting posts of creating a conversation when I get nice replies to my own. Many people here (including myself) don´t have English as their native language. It´s more difficult to post then. Answering seems easier. Welcome to mylot!

Hello, I prefer to respond to the disscussions that have been started, instead of me starting the disscussions myself, because I have a passion for helping others, and it feel good at times to here what someone else have to say. I guess since I have been working in the customer service feild all my life, being on My Lot remind me of that all over again, when I repsond to members dissussions, and I have to add their are some wondeful disscussions I have responded to sa far. Happy My Lotting!

It's just people who are looking for a quick buck and don't want to bother to work for the money. I'm kind of in both camps lol. I'm on here to make money, but I also like to give my opinion on things just in case it makes a difference in some way.

I think that a lot of the users are inactive. I know that I have a lot of referalls and only a few of them are actually active. I myself mostly reply to discussions. I do not really start discussions myself. Mostly because I cannot think of any topics to start.

Hi, I don't start as many discussions as I post, just because I often can't think of anything to ask that hasn't been asked before? I try not to do repeat conversations and if I do, I feel bad about it because I'm not trying to "rain on someone else's parade", or anything, I just want to have something to contribute and not bore anyone else about. Maybe I'm the exception here I don't know....

Though we have many active in here.. there are very few who consitently spends time here at myLot.. There isn't high rate of activity - specially in technical sections... that many topics go unresponsed.. [as most active members do not respond to raw informative type topics... - For instance - Questions like which is the best software.. - about comparison of products, cars.. etc.. gets around 10-15 responses maximum] But more general and personal topics that anyone can answer gets very good response.. - I've seen one thread with 200+ responses about whether you wash you new clothes before wearing it first...So clever and experienced users limit the number of discussions they start.. and get maximum response to the very few they start once in a while..
