A number of studies show that tall, good-looking people do better in the job markets.
The bias toward better-looking people is cruel, but it is a fact of life. So, more and more people choose a cosmetic surgery in order to find a better job. From where I stand, I want to do all cosmetic surgery should be aware that after the side effects of the non-appearance of congenital deficiency of the choice of people who do cosmetic surgery are generally aware of some of the side effects of surgery.
What is your opinion on cosmetic surgery? Natural beauty and cosmetic surgery, which one is more important? In order to find a better job, will you choose a a cosmetic surgery if you are not a good-looking one?

It is what's inside that counts. Not really, especially when you are looking for a job. It seems to be quite well known that tall people and better looking people get better jobs. I do not blame people for wanting to look as good as possible especially when applying for a job. A good suit and haircut will only take you so far.
People call their hair and put on makeup in order to look good, having cosmetic surgery is just one step beyond that. As long as you do not go overboard and start looking freakish it is probably okay. Personally I would never do such a thing unless I was actually disfigured and needed correction to look normal.

Thank goodness I have never applied for a job that required good looks since I consider myself to be a very plain Jane, but even so, I would never consider cosmetic surgery for a job! That is just plain ridiculous for a regular job. I think I can understand the movie stars or TV personalities who do get CS performed because that is their chosen profession and with how much emphasis society puts on "looks" the stars almost have to keep up their appearances or improve them in order to continue to be popular lead stars and get the amount of money that they demand. Isn't is a shame though that the fact that they are extremely talented is not enough.
I have never been happy about my looks but I am learning to accept what I do and do not have in the looks department and live with it. Besides, I have seen many people over my lifetime who were pretty on the outside but ugly on the inside and no amount of cosmetic surgery can fix that! If the job required looks and personality, some people would still be jobless even after cosmetic surgery.

Hi getbrowser, no way would I even think about cosmetic surgery to get a job. I know some who hwve had it, and from where I stand, after a time they need more nips and tucks. I think it's poor person who selects a person on their looks and not their ability, and eventually will pay the price. However, I agree with you it does happen.

It may be the case for some positions that I am not so sure that only the good looking people get all the jobs! I would not resort to plastic surgery especially to obtain work, if an employer is looking for a better looking candidate then so be it...I would not want to be employed by someone so small minded and superficial anyway.

I couldn't imagine taking that kind of risk to get a job. I'm fine with the looks God gave me, and as far as I know, so are others. If the job meant I'd "have" to get comestic surgery to get it, I'd find another!

Even though many know about it, they still do get plastic surgery. This shows that those people are adults that made the choices about their appearance, and agreed to take full responsibility of it.

Plastic surgary is good but for the job its not, because the CV reaches the employer first, which clearly indicates the age.

Hello friend,
Yep, good-looking people may get the drop on others in the same situation, so there are more and more people do this kind of surgery to get a nice job. But i'll never do it even for the job i want the best. After all it's fake, people will know about it sooner or later, and the most important is that it's harmful to the body, it does not deserve. so it will never happens to me,hehe. Ted

I'm sure for some people that it is. However, I would like to think that for people involved in the more cerebral professions, it doesn't matter as much. This, of course, excludes people who have procedures and then parlay that into having a more confident personality which enables them to be more ambitious in the job market and the rest of life.

Hello getbrowser. I think that it all depends on the job that one intends to do when it comes to cosmetic surgery. Take working as hotel waitresses and waiters, it is better for the hotel to have some nice-looking employees to attract more customers. But as to me, I don't think that I will have any cosmetic surgery though I am so ordinary-looking. It is good enough for my own career, teaching.

My knee-jerk reaction is against it, especially if it is a job-related choice, but the exception would be if the person had been disfigured in some accident or at birth. There is a difference between not looking like a movie star and having some series defect. Some things need to be fixed and some don't. If someone was the victim of a vicious attack where the criminal mutilated them, then that victim would not want to have a reminder of that every look in the mirror. So to that person I would say go for it. But if the person actually looked ok, but just had low self-esteem then I would say leave things as they are. Beauty, you know, is in the eye of the beholder.

unless I looked like Frankenstein's monster I would not go getting the face and body God gave me cut up just to please some
bigotted stuffed shirt type who will only hire movie star pretty girls and handsome movie star type guys for a job. This job would not be worth it to me. I would want to be hired on my ability to do the job, not on my looks at all. As long as I wore clean appropriate clothes for the interview I would not go a bit further.

i couldn't take a risk in order to get a good job, i'm fine with a ordinary looking face. no doubt that a person with good-looking face who have more chance to get a good job, but as the matter of fact, this is not only reasons which was request by employer.such as the capability or the degree is also the importance factor.therefore, even if you had a good-looking one after cosmetic surgery, you also may not get a good job.why not to changed one.i like my face.good luck and have a nice day!

It's not option for me. In the long run its your knowledge that matters, there are a lot of not so good looking people that earn others respects because they're good at what they do and not because they look good. Others may have the look but if they don't have the knowledge they won't get the job either. Cheers!

I believe the apprearance is important factor when you are seeking a job. The people with better looking have the larger probability to get the job. However getting a job is one thing; achieving success in the long run is another story. The most important thing in our life is not the factor that we can not determine, such as apprearance, parents, the country where you were born, but the effort we can make. Most cosmetic surgeries have the side effects to some degree. When we are making decision to take such surgery, we have to consider the risk. Anyway no matter the apprearace we endow from our parents is good or bad, we have to survive and make a better living in the world.

I'm a very plain looking woman but I would never, ever have cosmetic surgery! First, God gave me this face for a reason. Second, I've become comfortable with it, wrinkles and all. I would never change the way I look and if someone doesn't like the way I look, they can turn away.

i think the natural beauty is better for it represents the real you. the big problem is just our understanding of the beautiful, what is the beauty? my answer is the beauty come from our heart, someone have a good appearance but no a beauty heart,it's not the really beauty...
