My answer is yes, I like to review others comment prior to posting my discussion.
Sometimes when I see the new disccussion, I can not fully understand what the issuer mean for the topic that I need to refer others to inspire my words. Sometimes I would not like to miss any posting chance after I clicked in, but without any common idea, then I will see other's response first.
How about you? Will you read the comment from other first? If yes, what kind of reason that you hold to read other's response? Or will you reponse it as soon as you clicked in to save the time? Share your comment here.

Hi sasa! Great avatar!
Yes I read all the responses and I even read them on discussions where I do not always respond. There are so many interesting things to learn by reading the responses here. I get to know the users better as well as seeing different opinions about similiar topics too.
I never respond through notifiers as I go to the discussion, open it up and read other responses just to make sure that what I intend saying has not already been posted by another user. If it has then I usually comment on it without leaving my own response.

It's the same for me. Since I do the same and I have this habit of not posting a new comment but commenting the post of people with opinion similar to mine, well, I'm giving a practical example here.
Eheheh.
I DID read other people comment
I DID find someone sharing my opinion
I DID comment on her post instead of posting a new one almost the same as hers.
I feel quite proud of myself for having followed my own rule here. :o)

Hi sasalove,
According to mylot guidelines, reading other’s response before posting our own is come under the 'don'ts'. Usually I don’t read it because if I read other posts then I may lose my interest to write my own. Earlier I started a discussion on same topic and that time one of the senior members told me that it is against the guidelines. But many people are doing the same and I don’t think that mylot admin can have any method to find it out. I don’t think that it is a mistake too, if you can’t understand the topic or explanation you will get a chance to understand the same by reading other’s posts. So please go ahead.

I'm starting to get confused... I think it's not prohibited to read other's posts before answering. On the contrary, it was well encouraged as I can remmber. I'll go back to read the gudelines again.
Starting a new discussion that has the same topic has old ones, yes, I know it's not permetted. Or at least we shouldn't do it but it's not always so easy to find out all the similar discussions, especially if they haven't been tagged correctly.
Please people correct me if I'm wrong

Somebody advised me in one year before as reply to my discussion. (if you want, you can check my old discussion but it is too old, if you have time then only do it pl). I remember the same still. If you want to read the comments you can do it, I don't think there is any problem will happen. Please go ahead.

There is some confusion here I see.
It is best to check the Guidelines ourselves to be certain because sometimes other users can mislead us by giving us their interpretation of things - and they are not always correct
In the 'Don'ts' in the Guidelines we are told:
"Don't Respond to a discussion until you've read all of the responses."
meaning that we should read them all first so that we do not repeat a rsponse already given by another user.

I am not consistent in doing this. Sometimes, i read others comments first before doing mine but most of the time, after reading the topic/discussion i go straight to responding on to it. I don't want to be swayed by others views.

It happened to ms Sasa--after posting my response i saw and read the same response as mine... we have the same view LOL. It seemed like i just copied the idea. So, now i am more careful in responding to discussions. Browsing the responses will also help but is still would go on with my fresh views and ideas.

It is true that our minds will be affected by others views if we review other's comment first. But if you dont' read other's comment, it is very easy to post the same idea, or maybe the same languange if you have the same expression.
Thanks for your reponse.

Hi sasalove :D
I always read other comments & response which i find more attractive.I don't read more than 2-3 lines of any response or comments,if its more interesting then only i read full response ^_^
As you said by reading others response may help to understand the topic better. Many people finds its waste of time but they are not knowing what they are missing ;)
Happy mylotting ^_^

I scarcely read others' comments. The topic I take in discuss usually is the one I am very interesting in, I can respond quickly. On the contrary, I prefer reading the body of the discussion by author carefully, and I think it's polite to comment sincerely and concretely instead of responding randomly and vaguely.
Do you agree with me?^-

I agree. But I can learn a lot from others' comment and I will try not to post the same idea on the same topic. If you directly go to the posting without browsing others', it is quite a big chance that you post the same thinking there.
Thanks for your response and happy mylotting.

It totally depends on the subject. As you said, if it is just not comprehendable, then i will read other posts by other users to get what it means. But if it is easily understandable like this one, then i just post my thoughts :)

I try to unless the person had made me really incensed, or I just don't have a lot of time. I would say I at least read some of the comments before responding to about 80% of the discussion. The other 20 fall into the two categories I outlined at the beginning of this posting.

Yes, I make it a point to read the comments made by other users before I post my response. Unless of course the responses are so many and there are many repetitive responses. It will be good to get an idea of what is going on before I respond. I might find myself just repeating what others have already said.
cheers!

sasalove hi hatley here no not always, I like to make my own
thoughts into a response, not just repeat someone else's thinking as I may have a bit different idea. I want to '
make my response spontaneous, if I read ten responses that
all say practically the same thing I have just wasted my
time. I do like to think for myself. I can decide what the
discussion is about most of the time. I do not want someone
else deciphering things for me. I like to do that for myself.

Yes, but I don't read all the replies. To do like that, I can know more very different thinkings, and may be there are some nice and valuable proposals, and, there, I may find someone who has the similar attitude, life style, etc. In brief, read the comment from ohters is worthwhile and interesting.

Hello Sasa. I do read some of the other comments...all of them if the discussion isn't huge and full of many many responses! I love to see what others have said on the given topics.
It's one of the things I enjoy most about mylot...how much I've learned from the nice people here.

yeah i do read the discussions first before i post my comments because some discussions are not objective, and i have to read what she/he meant to what he/she had discussed so that i won't be out of the topic.

Yes I also read comments before I start posting mine. If it is not too much clear, what the issuer wants to know, they all give some ideas. Otherwise if the post is clear to me then I start straightway. Because there is no harm to response fast.

sometimes I do sometimes I dont...it depends on the topic really...if its just a basic topic or one of hte more fun ones then I usually dont read other comments until after I've posted mine....if its a more serious topic then SOMETIMES i will read the other comments or some of them before posting my reply...

Sometimes I am the same. I will repond to others if it is a common topic, but concerning the area that I am not quite familiar, I will read the comment from others first. Per their opion, we should read other's response first just in case any duplicate idea occured.
Thanks for your response and happy mylotting.

Yes I read first the comment of others before I post because I might post the same idea or what I'm thinking is different from the topic.

Hi sasalove. I have a very limited time to do mylotting especially when i am in the office. You workers in any office that office work should be the priority. That's why i mostly go online to mylot and respond to me friends' first. When i resepond to theirs, i respond through email notifications so i can't go to the previous responses and make my response then and there. But if i get some more extra time to give my response to other members who are not in my list, i read the responses already there first. Sometimes, discussions are such a hit so there are too many responses already there to read and will consume a lot of time, i usually read at least the first page responses... Neil

yeah, I read and scan some comments and then proceed to reply on my own thoughts as I do not really like to read fully or else it may affect my reply. Thus, i also avoid imitating the ideas of others and I like to write what i am thinking right now to avoid duplicating the same comments from other members.

I just read the discussion posted by the Poster and then reply to their question. I don't really read the comments left by other people. I wonder if it would taint my answer if I did. I just like to reply to a discussion where I can give a clear and concise answer to the question.

hi sasalove, i see most time, one situation is that i could not understand what does the discussion mean, i could not understand it, so i could not answer it. so i would view some responces. annother reason is that i will learn some grammer or phrases if i watch more responce for english is not my native language. but when i have so much to say about one discussion, i would respond directly.
