I love to read. I am a fan of mysteries, romance and some science fiction novels. I am also into self help books and some non-fiction books as well. I have always liked to read since I was small. I can read a novel in one day if I have the time to devote to it. (That is not done lately with the kids, work and of course the home life). I do enjoy reading a book over watching tv. Reading helps to relax me physically but also stimulate my brain at the same time!

Me as well, I prefer to read a good book that to watched television or movies. I'm a bit choosy watching movies, but when it comes to reading I don't have that much preferences except scary ones. Yeah, reading makes us relax and enjoy, it enhance our imagination and sharpen our brain. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Reading is one of the skills I learned to use when I was at school. It gave me the opportunity to read picture books when I was a young child and novels when I became older. In my life today, as an adult, print is everywhere. Reading print is an essential skill. I like to visit my local library. I have many books of my own and I like to read some magazines. Reading became my habit because it is something that I enjoy. It goes hand in hand with writing.

i read because i'm interested on what a book is all about or when i want to know something. through reading one can know things on other countries, even though you can't travel there at least you've known the places that is worth visiting there. its like you're there! only difference is that you did not actually see it hehe but its more economical than actually traveling hehe!

Yeah, reading is essential part in our life, the same as writing. When we're just kids our parents taught us after we know how to speak is to read and write. As reading is the basic foundation of intelligence. Through reading we'll able to visit and live different interesting places around the world. Reading give us a unique kind of entertainment in the comfort of our home, or in any places we want to be. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I grew up in a house where reading was a popular pass-time. My parents would consistently read me books, and not just picture books. My mom even asked me to follow along while she was reading so I could learn to read too. By the time I was in 2nd grade I was consistently reading throughout the week. Now, I'm the biggest reader in my family. I read two or three books a week, and if I don't have a book to read then I feel lost. I read because I like getting into a story where the images are all mine to conjure. I love hearing new stories, and envisioning them in my mind.

Yeah, reading enhance our imagination and increases our knowledge. That's why I prefer to read first the book version of a movie. Because it makes me able to imagine and gives me a clear picture of everything that I read. You're lucky that your parents do love to read. Because my parents don't really have a habit on reading, they prefer more on watching movies, and playing different sports. How I wish my parents has passion on reading. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Hello careguarden. I love to read especially inspirational, devotional and informative books and articles even in the internet. Reading keeps our mind mentally sharp and also teaches us many lessons in life , etc. Reading has become my habit ever since I was a child. It is part of my life. Yet I also guard against reading magazines, articles or books which neither teach nor inform about goodwill but rather mislead people or promote violence, hatred, indecency and other bad behavior. There are many websites, books, magazines, newspaper articles and other reading materials which do just that and I'm careful about those things.

Yeah, it's very great to read inspirational books as this could help on having a positive outlook toward life, especially in times of trouble and pain. Indeed it is very careful and cautious on what we read as this will affect in our life. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I read daily but not much. I usually read the local news everyday. It has become my habit of reading newspapers (if that could be what you meant by your question). In my younger years, I read novels and pocketbooks every weekend. But when I had my children, I didn't have much time to do that. With the advent laptops and computers, I had spent more time online. I wish I can find good novels so I can try on it again.

I also have the habit of reading newspaper daily. But I don't really read the entire newspaper, those sections and columns that only interest me. Yeah, with these days having so many competitions that consume our time, especially computers and internet. But I only read on internet when having discussions or with research relating to my work. But reading for pleasure I bought books, because my eyes can't bear to stay too much on computer screen. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Me, as well reading is my great passion. Ever since I was a kid, but way back then I only read to have higher grades, or to get even with my other siblings.LOL But then through time I've learned to love and enjoy reading until I become addicted on it as I can't help not to buy or rent a good books. I also love reading poetry, but more on free verse. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I enjoy reading, but I also enjoy being on the computer and the only place I can read that the cats don't torment me is sitting in front of the computer! So, I often read a few pages and then get back on the computer - when I have a book I want to read.

Hi careguarden, reading is the one thing which is consistent in my life and I can't imagine being without books. I read for pleausure but learn so much too from books and always like the insight into different cultures they give, or a perspective on past events. I passed the habit on to my son and taught him to read in English when he was three, and he's always got a book on the go as well, but he also learnt to read in Greek when he started school so has double pleasure in having two languages to read in.

Oh, well good for you thea09 that you have a habit of reading. Yeah it gives pleasure while gaining knowledge at the same time. And you did it right, it's good that you share your passion on reading with your son, as this will help him in achieving his dreams and gives him confident. There's so many things we can benefit from reading. It doesn't mean that we need to sit down for a long time to read, it does need to spent us time reading good books. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Hi, your discussion caught my attention because it came under my interests. Yes, I love to read. When I was young, I love to read picture books, magazines, comic books and journals. What I meant with journals, I mean the magazines of organizations like the public school teachers' organization to which my aunt, a public school teacher herself, is a member. I used to dig on the old issues and directly go to the short story and anecdotes sections. I enjoyed reading short stories because I feel I could learn from them. What really intrigued me--because the types I've read from the journals were not yet taken up in my class, given that the ones published in the journals were contributions from various teachers and students all across my country. That was the interesting part. Now, I'm a grown up and I thank those journals because they helped educate me in terms of dealing with situations. It also helped me improve my English. Thanks for taking this up. Thanks...

I enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing. Just like maximax said, it comes hand in hand. I love reading novels and self help books. My favourite genre is fantasy. I am so interested in a world that is different with where we are living now. Magic and adventure are my things! I started to read when I was about 5 or 6 years old. That time colourful children magazines really catched my eyes. As I become older I choose the 'heavier' ones to read, novels for example. Reading is part of my life, and I can't imagine living my life without something to read.

Yeah, reading is a good pastime. It increases our knowledge and intelligence. And it makes us more confident. As some people would admire someone who knows almost everything. And we can gain more knowledge through constant reading. Through reading we can found answers to our questions aside from giving us entertainment. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!
