I'm sure there are several reasons and they differ from one person to another. For those people I know, their main reason in migrating was in search for greener pastures and career advancement. They feel that opportunities are too limited here. The world is becoming more and more a global village anyway and national boundaries are slowly disappearing. What do you think?

My extended family had been spreading to all corners of the US. As I think about it the reasons seem to all have been money related, or at least job oportunity related. My parents, who I thought would never leave new england have moved to North Carolina to persue building houses in a more prosperous area. My cousin and her family moved to Florida because the possiblity of advancement in the military was better for her husband there. while political boudries may still exist, it doesnt seem to effect the mindset that you can go where the work is, even if its another country.

Yes I agree that one of the main reasons why people migrate is economic and job related. People will continue to migrate and from I heard, there is not country in the world where there are no Filipinos, it may not be exactly accurate but the point is we have migrated a lot to many parts of the world. This is the same too with other nationalities.

My brother and his family now lives in United Kingdom. My brother found a nice paying job and so he was able to bring his family with him. My sister in-law is already working with him. Their children are already studying there. It is our dream, to be in a place where life is not so hard for our children to live and grow the way they should be. We came from a poor family. Where in order to survive, we need to battle a lot of sufferings and hardships. We don't want our children to experience the same.

Yes, that's a good reason. Some countries are land of equal opportunities. Poor economic conditions and limited options are among the many reasons why many people migrate. The future of the children come first and foremost in many cases. enjoy!

I agree with you. Immigration has become.. SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE! If not, even ENCOURAGED by a lot of people - including teachers, politicians, etc - and federally funded some of the time (like for study abroad). It's cool that the world and all of our cultures are becoming more and more.. integrated. More students from the US are studying in places like Japan, Canada, the UK, and so on. It's cool - but it also has it's downsides (the melting pot dillema). And a lot of people go abroad to volunteer or work. I agree with you..Plus, the grass always seems greener on the other side!

hi maezee! Yes, it has become socially acceptable now. Americans are also everywhere, in my place there are many peace corps volunteers, bank and company managers, teachers, missionaries not to mention the military personnel. We have a long history of working together with Americans and the US has always been a part of our country's development. cheers!

Hello, Manong. We moved from England to Spain almost 2 years ago. We were not motivated by careers, as we're both retired - health was our number one reason for migrating. We live near the salt lakes on the Costa Blanca, which has been designated the healthiest place in the world for people with arthritis and breathing problems. This isn't just a tourism ploy, it comes from the World Health Organisation. I have 3 types of arthritis, and I'm so much better over here. The dry heat helps my joints, and I can walk and swim every day, which I certainly couldn't do in the UK. I have certain medication that I must take regularly, but I hardly ever take extra painkillers. When we return to the UK for a visit, I'm popping pills all the time. The diet is healthier, so I'm losing weight without even trying, which also helps my arthritis symptoms. Our second reason for migrating was the sharp rise in the cost of living. We're both on fixed incomes, so we have to stretch our money as far as we can. Although Spain is more expensive now than when we first arrived, it's still much cheaper on most things, so we have a better standard of living. Finally, we love the sunny weather and the quality of life here. Everyone is so much more relaxed, and everyone is happy because the sun is shining. Our only regret is that we didn't make the move years ago, but it's a big step, and you have to be sure it's the right thing for you before you uproot yourself.

Ola senora Sandra, buenas diaz. Never had the faintest that you are actually typing from of the healthiest place in the world. You have definitely good reasons to migrate, healthwise, economicwise and weatherwise. Glad you have found the right place for you. Hope that you'll get over those 3 kinds of arthritis soon.

Definitely. especially in first world countries where there are good social services. Education and health care take a large chunk of our salaries unlike in other countries where they are taken care of by the government. enjoy!
