Hi, I have only created not too many discussions here. I never see my discussion in today's top discussion, so, I wonder. On average what is the number of response you have from your discussion? Which of your discussions got most response? How many response did you get from it? And finally, under what interest that discussion is at? I'd really appreciate you sharing your experience, especially some tips to improve the quality of discussions. Thanks.

Well actually, the secret of getting more response is your heading. You must create a good title that will catch the attention of mylotters. Sometimes the topic that you think will get lesser responses will get more responses.... What ever topics that you want to share just always make precise and detailed.
Commenting to responses will also make your discussion more interesting and more active.

Well I didn't realize it before you told me. Yaaay! MyLot made my day!
I didn't think this will be a top discussion, but you're right. Sometimes the top discussion isn't the one we expected to get most responses. :)

Hey there nooveggies, I had two of my discussions in the todays top discussions email, which is sent to all the members. The recent one was about two weeks back and it was in the peoples interest, and till today I have received about 62 responses for it. The other discussion got about 55 to 60 responses.
Regarding the tips, find some topic which is interesting to all of us.Since this is a transnational forum, it has to be of interest to everybody.

Hi nooveggies, I do have a number of discussions that hit the roof ie an average of 5 pages of responses. I am honored to have my discussions listed in today's digest on several occasions. I don't post regularly but respond to others most of the time. Mylot is full of surprises as sometimes we don't get many responses to our discussions but there are season when our discussions seems to interest many people and we get tons of responses. Yes, it is important to post quality discussions and on interest that many can relate well.

My first discussions were about how mylot worked and i got about 2-5. The discussions i got a lot on were titled "why do people hate metal" and "why dont more people post discussions" the first one got about 13 responses. The wierd part was is that it didnt get any responses until more then 24 hours later! i thought it was a good discussion but it went unnoticed for a while. The second one caught on almost instantly. The key is to post discussions that you can really relate to, and not just ask questions hoping to earn more money. And make sure that when you post a discussion, you ALWAYS come back to post comments on the people who responded to them. This way they know that you actually care (you may make some new friends!). Also, make sure you post relevant discussions in the right places. Dont go to the pet owner section and ask how to earn extra money. I think if you follow these steps you will get more responses, more friends, and earn more money. As soon as im done writing this im gonna friend you so i can see whenever you post a new discussion so i can comment on it. If you see someone who thinks like you or you like talking to them make sure you friend them so they can see when you post new discussions. I know this is long bu i hope you read it and heed what i say. Good luck and happy myloting!

Thanks for sharing, Brad. I do make comments a lot. One responder even told me negatively that I write too long for my comments. they're around 4 lines, in fact. I do want to engage in my discussion and chat with others. When I don't know the category of my discussion, I put them under question and answer. Accepted your fiend request, Brad. :) Hope to see you again in other discussions.

Hey Nooveggies,
I haven't started a discussion yet as I'm trying to get a better feel for the site. I'm gonna wait another few days then make one I don't want to start one and get no responses that would be pointless I'm gonna think about something most people can relate to the post. I see that your also not here that long I'm new to hope you enjoy using the site I do.

nooveggies hi hatley here well the one I did about feeling guilty although I was elderly that this young lady had to stand, and I got 117 replies for that, most of mine now do get about twenty five responses.but the first six months I was here I never got more than about ten or fifteen. It came with hard work and becoming noticed by the older posters here. most of my discussions were under people if that helps any. It all comes with
more experience is all.

Hi hatley, you must have a lot of regular responder now. I'm amazed that you've made over 18000 response already! Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with a newbie like me. I hope I can create a great discussion with over a hundred responses like you someday. :)

I think I have two or three discussions which got more than hundred discussions. Two of them are 'can you live without cofffee?' and 'do you like to sleep with a blanket on?'. I don't remember the other, but I know that the other discussion was created under the interest 'sleeping'. Now a days, many of my discussions get more than 30 responses. I feel a discussion is good if I can get more than 30 responses.

That's not the case with me. I always think of the number of response I might get since I'm determined to start a discussion only if I'm confident it would interests other mylotters. :)

Hi nooveggies, these days I probably average between 15 and 45 responses on my discussions, and a recent high one was 47 on 'what would you do if you found an illegal immigrant in your basement'.That one was in pe which is meant to be for satirical humour. It was to begin with but then as it became popular it received the additional responses because it was popular where responders failed to read the question properly and responded with serious answers.
However, and take heed, number of responses has nothing to do with a good discussion and is not the way to earn well. The typical discussions which have lots of responses are the simplest of questions which require no thought, such as what do you put on your ice cream. That will turn into a question and answer question and usually the answers will be ignored as how can anyone respond to all that, so unanswered responses do not a discussion make and no cents will be earned by the poster. Quality counts not numbers. It is better to have ten quality respones with interaction and repeat comments from the same responder, than 100 responses which are boring and don't result in a discussion.
Take a look at the two different types and see which way you'd prefer to go.

My best so far gathered almost a hundred. It was all about computers and how and when they learned it. Since my parents and other relatives aren't that old but scared to explore or use the computer. I have also noticed a number of seniors here which reminds me of my parents and aunts. So i started a discussion about it and the number rose up so fast that i nearly forgot to comment on all of it. But, i just did what i have to do. Since they made an effort in responding to my discussion, i need to do my own responsibility.
Take care nooveggies. Just don't lose hope on being at today's top discussion. You will hardly even know where will your topic take you. So good luck and have fun!

It's been awhile since I've actually paid attention, but I have gotten thirty to forty responses, and quality means everything. You need to type quality discussions, responses, and comments to make the most out of mylot. Without quality, you may find discussions getting deleted, responses as well as comments may also be deleted.

Well i have got 62 response under the interest of cell phones where i had asked where do you keep your cell phones while sleeping as there were news of cell phones causing cancer if kept for a long time. I think the average will be around 10-15. Try to ask questions in simple words here as they are user who are not so familiar with the english language which may help you to get response from them too.
I hope this helps.

I have not got good responses to most discussions, no more than 5 or so. I always go back and reply to anyone who comments on mine.
But then I haven't really started many, or thought about what subjects to talk about.
You don't actually earn more just from posting a discussion, but if you get a lot of replies and then respond to them all its an opportunity for more posts and so you earn from them.
So I am really just focusing on posting as many replies to discussions as possible, and if I should think of a good topic for discussion I will go ahead and post it.

Have posted a discussion regarding a friend of mine who got HIV yesterday. And to my amazement it got 29 responses. Its my higher response rate I got so far. I guess myLotters are more sensitive and emotional to this kind of discussions.
