Pong, who just back in July had all his teeth pulled, is now eating kibbles again!
Don't ask me HOW he eats them toothlessly, but Taj, who had his teeth pulled last November, started eating kibbles around New Years, so Pong waited several months longer before doing so.
This means a lot of different things, but mostly it means that he's not so hungry anymore!
Maybe he'll get fat like Taj has now that he's eating kibbles again.
Now, we just need to get Solo's teeth done and maybe we'll be out of the woods with cats for a while!

That’s good news! I can’t imagine how he manages to eat kibble though but he is obviously doing fine. I liked olydove’s suggestion of mixing a little hot water with the kibble. Pong looks like a lovely cat; I used to have one that looked just like him years ago...

Pong is more, well he's special to us, but more ordinary looking a cat than his brother, Ping. Ping has a more "pert" looking face, but I call the pair "The Wonder Twins." And Taj, who had his teeth pulled last November, has been getting fat on kibbles since around the first of the year.

Awwww Elic! That's great!! They're tough little creatures, aren't they? I had to have some of my chihuahua's teeth removed and wondered if he'd be able to eat dry food ever again and he can. I was right surprised to see him eat it but he can do it. Now I have false bottom teeth and I could not nor would I even try to eat off of my gums. OUCH!! Nooooo not going there!! lol

Hey Cats! Love your hallowe'en-themed avatar... when I first looked at it I thought it said "Lick or treat"! I'll take a kitty lick any day.

LOL Lick or treat, eh? Are your eyes playing tricks on you? Thanks, it's suppose to be animated but I can't get it to work so it's a stand still for me but I loved it when I first saw it even though there's no dogs in it. Anyway, thanks again!

Very good! I have never had cats teeth removed.. well except for one cat who had an abcessed tooth I have had a few who have lost a tooth here or there. Poor Kitty.
was he eating canned food before? or did you have to moisten his kibble?

Tell me about it! I have 15 cats.. and when my kittens had stuffed noses, I had to get them canned food because they lost weight because they couldn't smell their food and lost interest in eating. But the canned has a stronger smell so they were a little more apt to eat it. Some I still had to force feed food and water to keep their strength up or they would have just wasted away.. Now they are almost 6 months and the boys are huge and the girls are BEAUTIFUL.

lots of spit.
seriously-his gums have probably hardened to the point where he can, some take longer than others.i had a female cat awhile back who became diabetic and lost her teeth.after awhile, nothing stopped her,she even tried to eat a stolen corn cob.
poor kitty,it sounds like they were really plaguing him.

Hi Elic,
Awwwwww poor Pong, but glad he is eating again at least he won't starve, the poor little thing. Many years ago we had this famous cat callded Arthur on our UK comercial on TV and he was pour white, had not teeth and used to use his paws to get his food and he used to feed himself, he did look cute, he was so very famous. We loved watching on TV.

That's excellent Elic. I'm happy for you too because I know I worry about my two little guys and if they ever had to have their teeth pulled well my orange tabby would probably be the one that takes a long time to eat again, but as much of a pig as my gray tabby is LOL I don't think he'd have much problem.
One thing you can do to make it easier for them since I imagine they aren't chewing it up so good is to mix the kibble with just a tiny amount of hot water or soup broth to soften it up for them. My friend has a cat that also had his teeth pulled so whenever she makes some sort of soup she sets aside just a little bit of broth to warm up later and put in his kibble. He loves it and it makes it much easier for him to eat.

At my brother's wedding, one of his new brothers-in-law had his teeth removed a few days previous and had not yet been fitted with dentures. He amazed me by chomping down on a celery stalk and managing to chew it without any problem.

I'm not that fond of it myself, though I do use it when I'm making chicken soup or stuffing.

He's a gorgeous kitty Elic...reminds of some of my former orange tabbies now in Rainbow Bridge. Glad he's eating normally again and his kibble...just HOW can he though??

Why did you have to have their teeth pulled? I've never heard of such a thing unless they are causing problems. Though the longest I've owned a cat thus far is 4yrs & he's still with us.

they have something called stomatitis, it causes the gums to act like an allergy to tartar, and they don't want to eat because it hurts
Pong and Taj were losing lots of weight, but Solo is eating, but he looks terrible.
This is what he should look like....

[b]Oh, you know her; she'll be miffed, true, but she'll get over it. And of course I don't want to tax your schedule. Would he use the cat litter if you introduced him to it? If so, pick your shortest day & let him roam around the apartment. I could surely stand to cuddle with him! He's sooo soft & sweet! And I love his loud, snurgledy purr!

ok so im pretty taken back by this. why would a cat have teeth pulled? especially all your cats? i've heard of them being declawed which i dont think is right, but never their teeth pulled. cant they eat soft cat food?

Taj, Pong and Solo have a problem where the tartar on their teeth cause them to have massive ulcers on their gums and in their mouths.
Believe me, if they didn't NEED to have their teeth pulled I wouldn't be doing it - I have better uses for that money than pulling teeth.
And its only 3 cats, not all my cats, I'd be in deep trouble if they ALL had it!
