why do you believe in your beliefs? what pushes you beliefs to stay strong? whether its a belief in a higher power or in yourself - why is it that you maintain it? i dont believe in a higher power or an afterlife. this is because i want to know that the only person who is controlling my future is me. also, i dont want to live on after my body has ceased to function - i want to be gone, only living on in the hearts and memories of my loved ones. i do believe, though, that belief is a powerful thing: *athletes must believe in themselves to be able to compete at their best. *pharmaceutical companies must believe that what they are doing is right to be able to produce drugs that may save lives, throughout the testing phases *those who are religios may find a sense of purpose, direction and a spiritual connection in their beliefs. all of these are strong concepts that rely on belief to assist people to achieve a goal or to succedd. what is your opinion on belief in general?

Beliefs are like opinions. They are generated through one's experiences in life. That is why no one has the same reality. Each believe differently and experience reality through their own belief filter. That is why one would have to ask if there is such a thing as good and evil or if it just is. Personally, off my experiences, I believe in reincarnation, I believe that all of us put together is god (for lack of a better word), that we are responsible for everything that happens to us in our lifetimes, that karma exists and no one gets away with anything.

i like your concept that all of us put together - assuming that by us you mean the worlds population as whole - make up god or the ruler of the universe so to speak. the idea that we control what happens around us, to the people and the environment, as the higher being is an interesting idea. is there anything in particular that makes you believe in reincarnation or is it just something that you believe possible/probable?

I believe in reincarnation because I have studied it. It is very interesting to research. You will find that there are many religions that believe in it for different reasons. I came to that belief after looking into it out of curiosity and then had some past life regressions. I was raised a catholic and that never made sense to me growing up, so I started to search for answers outside. An interesting read is a book called "Messages from Michael". Even if you don't believe in that kind of thing it is a very interesting read and made sense to me.
