Do you use magazines as your fashion bible? Do you play by your own rules? Me? Well first off I cant afford too much at this time in my life. I do, however, try to think as to what pieces I can buy that will be able to be worn in several different manners. I make sure I have a white and black tunics, nice pair of jeans and a pair of boots. Anything else, well that just depends on what I can get. I tend to swap with friends. In fashion, the saying is true: One man's trash is definitely another's treasure. SO many times I have been over my sister's house and she will have her box of stuff she's no longer interested in. Every time I go home with a scarf, bag, or some other piece that I picture myself looking wonderful in. lol. I also try shopping at stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, AJ Wright, and Walmart. Believe it or not, Walmart has a great selection of scarfs, accessories, and sweatsuits. Every year I buy myself at least one comfortable pair of sweats that not only are inexpensive but they look good and can be worn in many different styles. What about you? Tell us about your fashion? Please share any helpful tips you have on where to go and what to buy? thanks dl

I say my fashion sense is off the charts. Literally. I am not a follower. I am a leader. I wear not only what feels comfortable, but I wear what I think no one else is wearing. I absolutely love Lady Gaga - she is so out there. She is so random. And no one else is wearing what she is wearing. And when they start to, she will change it up again. I love it!
I do the same for my accessories...For ex. I will wear one flat star earring, and one zipper earring - yes, the earring is actually a zipper - it dangles just a little. So, people have to look twice.
I also do this to my makeup. One purple eyeliner, the other eye has blue eyeliner. I love seeing people do a double take to make sure they are seeing what they think they saw. Its so funny.
Again, not a follower. Dont really follow magazine trends. I do my own thing.
NO ONE SHOULD BE A FOLLOWER. DONT GIVE INTO PRESSURE TO LOOK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. Why would you want to blend in??

I very much agree with what you wrote jentyree, and it sounds like you have amazing style! (and by the way, I am a huge Lady Gaga fan as well, so another thing we have in common. She is the biggest fashion icon out there at the moment!)

omh I love Lady Gaga too! she's so bold and dresses how she wants, not caring about what people say. And this attitude makes her successful. She's like walking art, I don't know, she wears clothes in a way a normal person wouldn't and I love it ^^

my fashion sense is based mostly on my moods.I tend to select classic clothes.I rarely follow trends and I hate seeing a lot of people dressed like me.I love vintage clothes.I am inspired by DK's collection last Spring 2008.it has a lot of full skirts, which look really good on me.when I fall in love with a trend,I make it my classic.I will wear it even if it's not in season.

I am the same way. I take what I like from a collection. Sometimes I see a shirt or pant that I really like. Usually they're the plaids that no one wants. I go into stores like AJ wright and browse thru their clearance section. I got a pair of lime green couture boots for $7. I love them. I also found a great brown, faux alligator skin, patent leather, hobo bag. I get so many comments on these two items. I tend to go with my flow. It works. My daughter is starting to ask me for fashion opinions. Scarves are a great thing as well. A few good peices of jewelry are the icing on the cake. I have a small jewelry company and most of my orders are to customize a few pairs of earrings, a personalized charm bracelet, and one or two other peices. Then you have the perfect collection. Let me know if you are interested and Ill show you some peices of my collections.I love to share my love for fashion jewelry. see or talk to you soon. dl

I love you!!! Lol. We are exactly the same. There's NOTHING better than a good pair of sweats. When my daughter was little and I was doing it all by myself, I used to purchase several different color sweat suits for her. Some I would buy to fit her exactly. Other times I would buy the shirts a size bigger. I would go to the craft store and by inexpensive buttons and bows and make it look cute. I got so many compliments on them. Other mothers would pay me to make them for their children. Sweats are a must. I buy a grey pair and a navy blue pair. I either wear them with a long tshir under the sweat shirt or a turtle neck and a great pair of sneakers. I have a million ways to pull off sweats. dl your sister in sweats.lol

Well I can say I'm fashionable but I dress comfortably. My style depends on my mood for the day and who I am with. And about on where to shop, I guess it depends your style, the mall is a big shopping place so there's where you have to go. and what to buy, uhm, just don't buy almost identical pieces.

Well, I personally don't think you cannot be both fashionable and comfortable. There are really a lot of ways that you can achieve both at the same time, and I think a lot of girls do this really well. Maybe you are one of them? :)

hi dloveli I just look at what is in the stores, what I can find, and the colors and styles that I know look good on me and go from there. I am not a leader, not a trend setter, I do not follow others,I just buy what I can afford and what I like, things that are comfortable and look good on me. to me the quality of the fabric and the color are very important.I am a summer so pick colors that suit my blue green eyes and silver hair. I have
picked up several pretty tops at Walmart and they were really
good quality fabric too.

I have to say that I wear what I want to wear and I do not follow any trends at all. I avoid looking like every other woman in the malls. I love to wear jeans with a little spunk on my blouses or if not just plain jeans and plain tees.

A girl after my own heart. I am the same way. Although if I see a fashionable piece that's affordable I go for it. I live by my own fashion rules. Everyone always tells me they like it. I am sure we would have a lot in common. My favorite thing is hand bags. I love all types, all colors. I am obsessed. lol I would love to hear more about your fashion ideas. Happy MyLotting dl

I really don't give a damn about fashion. I wear what I like, and what I feel comfortable in. If everyone else is wearing it, they have good taste. LOL If no one else is wearing it, then I am unique.

Me, honestly I seldom be fashionable. I go for clothes that I am comfortable wearning like a white shirt, jeans and fliplops. I do wear that attire even at work because we don't have dress code during office hours. As long as it is not a tube or sleeveless it is ok. Sometimes I do want to be fashionable so before I go to sleep I prepare my clothes and even try it and think about if I will wear it or not. But that is sometimes because I am so tardy of preparing for myself. When I have special occasion to attent with, formal gathering or just a date, I search through internet what are the clothes that are in and fashionalbe. When I run out of ideas I ask the help of a friend and ask her to accompany me to the dress store for fitting. I am a loser when it comes to what best outfit to be choose, I always go for clothes that are comfortable to wear even if I look like a nun.

hi dlovel,
I like to dress up comfortably but with some trend and not to draw too much attention to me... (but I dont like to be fully ignored also) I dont follow the fashion as everyone else would be doing that, so I tend to be a bit different from them.....

I'm not really a fashion junkie. But of course, I still want to look good with clothes. My rating would be average.

My fashion sense is, could be described as comfortable clothes, shirts preferably long sleeves an jeans, when I'am at home I will wear pj;s the whole time.
I don't buy new clothes often I guess you can say I wear mine till they wear out, I see nothing wrong with Wal-Mart clothes but I also like Kohl's an Target they are inexpensive an good for me anyways.

I would say that my fashion sense is pretty good, because I have been into fashion for a lot of years, so a lot of things come naturally to me because of this. But I have never studied fashion or anything, so there is room of improvement as well. I'd say my fashion sense is an 8 on a scale from 1-10, pretty much.
I think you do not need to buy expensive things to look good either, it is all about knowing what fits you, your figure and your sense of style. If you know these things, you can get away with a lot of things!

I guess i would rate my fashion sense as a 9 because I am trendy and i tend to keep up with style. You see it in the runway then the most probable thing is ill be wearing it . I guess i give myself a 9 because i already know how the fashion marlet behaves and how the styles tend to shuffle which one s are coming back and which ones should be gone forever. I left one point out because i only tend to use the clothes that are wearable or th things that u see In real life not those weird Super haute couture clothes that are better left for window displays

I have no sense of fashion at all. My sister, who is a lot more fashion conscious than all the rest of us shakes her head at what I wear. I like styles from my youth and that's about thirty years ago. I also cannot afford anything much these days either so that puts me back some more. People who see me think I'm stuck in time. Actually its my sister who buys me trendy stuff at Christmastime. I like it but its not much to wear. Like one shirt a year, kind of thing.
