The baby einstein scam. According to what I read this morning, Disney is offering a refund to any parents who bought into the videos. Thinking these videos would help their kids in the long run. Now, The American Academy of Pediatrics is saying that the early link to tv causes attention span issues in the long run and does not help with earlier learning. Of course any parent in my mind should know not to use tv as a learning tool or a babysitting tool. I think the fact that Disney is now being forced to give refunds is a little harse. The only harm done by Disney was them playing up the advertising saying you would have smart babies. What do you think?
Ps
I read the article in yahoo news in parenting.

Wow. That is really sad to hear. I know lot of people buy them and now they should be feeling terrble. But I guess everyone should know that TV is bad for your kids in excess. It is always best to be interactive with them by yourself like play with them, talk to them. Why depend on teh TV to do that?

I think that Disney has some culpability, since it is one of the "trusted" names, and they were touting this product as being one that would increase the learning capacity of your infant/toddler. I don't think that T.V. itself is effective, but there are programs that are interactive learning programs that you can do with your toddler that are both fun and educational. In my opinion, T.V. itself is not going to make your child smarter, especially if they are left in front of it as a "babysitting tool" as you put it. I think that some parents, though, are so focused on giving their children an "edge" that they will believe and/or try almost anything, especially if it is from a trusted source.
