Sometimes religious thought may not be best transcribed into vamp books..

Interview with Vampire, Lestat, Queen of Damned (hope to read eventually) were great for me. She had a few more current books I hadn't read and when I started one I was pretty much done. Angels? Really, Miss Rice? Her religious reawakening really ruined her books for me. As beautiful as it was that she was finding her higher self, for me, it wasn't a pleasant action for her to make her books take a religious term. I might as well watch some Anime. Have certain content ruined a Anne Rice book for you or was her broadened religious perspective more of a joy for you as a reader?

When she first switched to her series on Jesus I was a little annoyed, because I don't believe in him, but I was also very confused about that whole story. Now I might give them a chance seeing as I understand the plot of the bible little more and can comprehend where she's coming from. Another thing about her vampire series that I loved was her characters and their depth, and I wonder if she can pull that off on a character that's been around for thousands of years in another story... wait, isn't that fanfiction?? :D Anyway, to answer your question, no certain content hasn't ruined an Anne Rice book for me. But then again I haven't read them all have I? .

I was dissapointed aswell when i heard her decision to write only about religious themes. Though her motives are more than human! The loss of a loved person, especially the one you were supposed to live with for the rest of your life can seriously emotionally affect a person. I believe she needed this change, this return towards God...or maybe the search for Him in a different form than that of an all powerfull vampire. No, I dodn't think the charm of the Vampire Chronicles is affected in any way by this change, though i love the saga and in my heart i wished it would keep it going on the same line it started. I first read the book when i was 15 and I have to say that , in a way, Lestat was my first love :)) Or better said, my first ideal model to find in a man. And her present position can't change that. I heard she regrets writting the books. I am thankfull she did, because they are one of my favorite lectures ever! And it's too late for her to change that :D
