What is your national animal/bird?

I live in India.
Our National Animal is Tiger.
Tiger was chosen as the National animal of India due to its grace, strength, agility and enormous power. As the tiger is also considered as the king of Jungle, it was an obvious choice for the National Animal category.
Our National Bird is Peacock, Pavo cristatus (Linnaeus).
The Indian peacock is a colorful, swan-sized bird with a fan-shaped crest of feathers on its head, a white patch under the eye and a long-slender neck. The male peacock is more colorful than the female one.

In the US our national Bird is the Bald Eagle. I am not sure if we have a national animal. I will have to check on that- it should be the buffalo.. they used to roam the plains in the millions until the settlers came and slaughtered them until they were almost extinct. Now there are small herds in Yellowstone. I think they deserve to be recognized..
