It really doesn't matter to me. I am a very giving person. sometimes I give money and a gift. While other times I just get the person a present. It also depends if it is a child or an adult. If I do not know what to get someone or what they like I give them money or a gift card. I like giving children presents and sometimes money depending on what they need at the time.

I had rather give a present. Some people had rather you give them money instead of a present. My ex mother in law would not take money as a gift, you have to buy her something as a gift only if it is a dollar store gift. Good discussion. Happy mylotting.

I think that a present would be more personal, and I would rather give someone that, however money is also a great gift if you know a person needs more money to pay bills then they do material items. of course, you can always give money and a present, or even money and a gift card.

It depends who the person is. I often give my brother some money instead of a present, because he prefers it that way. I wouldn't give money to my parents or my grandmothers, I prefer to find or make a present for them. I often make my own presents for my grandmothers, I have made calenders with pictures from the family, paintings and other things, and I know that they would both get really disappointed if I "just" gave them money. I also like to buy presents for my friends unless they prefer a giftcard or some money.

Well it depends on what the situation is, if I know they could use money for some reason in their lives I give them money, but If I give gifts, I make sure to give practical useful things or fun things nothing tacky.

I feel like a present is much moe thoughtful and so I would prefer to give a present, however, in a pinch, a gift card or money is easier to obtain. I just often feel as if my money goes further if I shop for a gift.

I give presents. Giving money means you didn't care to take the time to pick something out for the person. It's an easy way to fulfill an obligation with no effort and it's kind of an insult that tells the recipient that you don't care enough about them to try to please them.
If people ask for money, I will sometimes give it. My sons are in the Southwest and I'm in the Midwest and they wanted money for their birthdays. One wanted some special bedsheets that were only at a certain store, no imitations. The other wanted to take his fiance to the movies and dinner. So I sent money that time.

i think i would rather give them a present. for my family and friends i prefer to give presents rather than give money, because i try to pay close attention when they mention things that they would like to have. i like suprising them by giving them those things. for my coworkers i mostly give them gift cards, and let them buy what they want, in some cases though, if i hear them mention something that they would like to have, then i would try to get it for them. so i guess it depends on who i am buying or giving the gift too.

It really depends. Usually for teens or young kids I give them a gift card. If it is for adults I buy a gift. Also, if they are hard to buy for I also will give a gift card with some little hand written note or momento of some kind to go with it. Sometimes I have an idea for what to give the teen or younger person and then I will get it.

I think it depends on 2 things - how well I know the person, and also the person's personality.
Let me explain.
1. How well I know the person - If I know 'X' very well, then I will know what X wants or is wishing for, or wants to buy but can't afford right now or whatever...In that case, it would be a sweet surprise to buy whatever that was as a present for X. On the other hand, if I didn't know X, and I found myself in a situation where I had to give a present, then money would be the best choice because I can't go wrong that way.
2. The person's personality - Regardless of how well I know the person, there are some people who hate surprises (and I guess a gift wrapped present is a sort of surprise) and would rather have the money any day. So, i figured, it's their big day, why not give them what they like and make them happy!
That's what I think anyway :)

I like to shop for a present I know the person would really enjoy. Sometimes I do give gift cards. It depends on who I'm giving it to. I also really enjoy gift wrapping and seeing the person open their gift. But most people do appreciate money more sometimes.

It would depend on the person. I find some people very difficult to buy for and in this case I would give them cash so they can go and buy something they really wanted. Others that I buy for I would like to get them something which I had put a lot of thought into, that way its more personal than just cash.

I would rather give them money, if they are hard to buy for. The teenagers are ones that I like to give cash to.

I like to give present. I like it when people is opening their gift and they will be surprise when they find out what is it inside. When you give a present the amount is hidden except when the people received the gift will try to find out the price .For me the thought really counts, i want this person to appreciate my hardwork of finding a present for them, and usually I give a gift that is very useful for them. I want to test them if they will surely use my gift.

It does depend. I love giving presents but when I am absolutely stuck for ideas I will give money or a gift card. My sister hates giving money; she says it means no thought has gone into the gift. She may be right but I don’t mind receiving money as a gift; it’s not very often that I can go shopping just for myself!

I think giving one a present is a lot more personal because that tells the recipient that you took the time to think about them and really put something into where are money is total opposite in my opinion. Although there are times when money is a good enough gift and what a person may be asking for such as for ones graduation and sometimes even a wedding. I will normally give cash for those two occasions and then for birthdays and Christmas I will go out and give them a gift that I picked out personally for them.

hi jugs, it depends on your relation with the one you are going to give a present or gift. if you are very close friends, you would know what he needs and what he likes. so you can give him a really surprise. but if you are not close friends you have to give him something, that cash would be better. with the cash he buy something he really want.:)happy mylotting
