My new kitten Mika (well not so little anymore) has a habit of making a chattering noise when she is about to chase something. Its usuallu bugs and birds she sees in the garden. I looked it up and aparently it something they do when excited. Mika is the first cat I have had that does this, I had a Tonkinese that would chatter and mewl at her food. Does your cat make funny noises when she is pursuing prey? It makes me chuckle everytime she does it - she is such a character!

It's an instinctive reaction to seeing prey, real or pretend. My cats do it all the time when they see a bird outside and so does my 4 month old kitten. (Fierce little thing he is!)
