and what about you friend, do you like to eat your dinner at the dinning table or on the tv room, please post your valuable comment here, thankyou, have a nice day.

Hi Neelima,
I used to have only the breakfast at the dining table. For lunch and dinner usually i will be infront of tv,when am at home. Yeah, i know its not a good habit and mom always scold me for this. But i feel, am comfortable with this. Its better sitting on floor while meals. Good discussion friend. Happy Mylotting.

I followed all the acharam anushtanam in the beginning stages of my married life. Later I left it out. Now we eat sitting on sofa or cot. Since my mother-in-law is not there, no one to scold us. I too never object my children.

when children grow up, go for work, they will have their own timings. They will have to go out for many small and big works like paying mobile bills or buying things or zerox etc. So unlike the days when they were small, now we eat at our own convenient timings. So she takes the food to her room. There only cot is there to sit. So she will sit on the cot. Got my point? I think in many houses they do this only. By the way my discussion has come in today's mylot digest. This is the second time. A small pleasure.

when we dont have a child yet sometimes we eat in front of the tv to watch while me and my wife are eating. but since our child can seat on a high chair we no longer eat in front of the tv. we even turn off the tv when we are eating.... har har har trying to be a good example. if we eat with the tv on my son pays attention more with the commercials than with his meal, so we rather eat then watch later.

We try to eat dinner at the table as a family but it doesn’t always work out that way and sometimes we tend to eat in shifts with my daughter at the breakfast bar, my husband at the table and me at my desk in front of the computer! I do love when we all eat outside in the summer though; I consider that special family time...

We only eat at the table when there are guests. This is probably not a good habit. We usually eat in the living room together. My son has a little table he sits at and my daughter sits on the floor. I usually sit on the couch and we watch children's shows.

I usually eat in my room in our apartment in my bed. Hahaha. cause we have a really small dining table in our apartment, and it's full of non-food things. lol. anyway, when I'm at back in my parent's house in the province, we usually eat in the bar in our kitchen / dining area. We seldom use our dining table.. it's only for formal occasions, like Christmas or something.. And when we eat, the TV is usually open in the living room, which is directly across the bar. hehe.

LOL. My parents tell me the same thing... anyway, I'd tell the same thing if I have children of my own.. maybe by that time we would have a bigger dining table. hahaha.

We have a kitchen table but we have a lot of other items on the table at this time. We've only eaten at that table on a few occasions. We mostly ate there quite a bit during the summer months and I sat at the table and worked on a lot of school work before I graduated.
Now that it's gotten to be Fall and we've both got a lot of other things going on, we've ended up plopping in front of our TV to eat. The kitchen table because of our apartment layout is practically in front of the TV anyway. It's not like we couldn't sit at the table and watch TV. It's just at the table we had a better surface to eat on.

I live with my sister and brother but we seldom eat together since my sister and I both work while my brother studies so he's always in school. We work in the same company which has three shifts (including a graveyard shift) and we rarely have the same shift. Its quite lonely eating alone that's why I prefer to eat in front of our TV so that I would be entertained while I'm eating. Besides all my favorite programs are all in prime time so its better for me to watch tv while eating, so that I won't miss any of my favorite shows nor my dinner.

Not everybody eats together anymore. We have found that we are more connected to our kids when we eat together. So no matter what everyone is doing, we always stop and have dinner together at the table. It's when we can talk as a family and find out about each others day. With everyone having such busy schedules, we sometimes don't get to see each other too much, so we have made it a top priority to have dinner together every night. Even if it's only for sandwiches and watching tv, but we are all together.

Dear friend,
I usually have my dinner on dinning table, there is also a TV in dinning room. But at times I may have dinner on sofa too. But I feel more comfortable eating food on dinning table. But while I have snacks I would just stand and eat.

Hi neelima,
According to experts it is not good to eat infront of TV and if we eat by watching TV we can’t enjoy the food. It is advisable to dine with the family means all family members eat together and it can be the sharing moments and which can increase the bonds among the family members. But I do agree watching tv and eating food simultaneously is a common habit among people.
In my village TV room should be front side of the house and dining room in the middle or back side which can keep away the tv while eating. Here, (where I stay now), it is not possible for me, we have only two rooms and tv must be ‘on’ at the time of dinner.

hi sree, how are you, yeah most of the people will have their dinner at in the tv room only. the habbit comes from before right. even in my house, we use to sit together mainly because of my kids, other wise i have to run behind them, if we sit together then they will also eat and enjoy also. thankyou for your response, have a nice day.

Usually on the dining table, especially when my parents are around. My mom prefers that we sit together at the dining table to eat. When I was younger we did that everyday, but then at that time, we were living with our grandparents and unmarried aunts and uncles, so there really wasn't enough room for us on the table so we eat in front of the TV. When we moved to our own house, my mom made it a rule to eat together. Sometimes, when I'm home alone, I would eat in front of the TV, but only when there's something good on. Sometimes though, there's something really exciting or important on TV like breaking news or something, and so we would all sit in front of the TV to eat, except my dad, and watch. It rarely happens though.

it is well know that if we are trying to lose weight ,we should not be eating infornt f the tv since mindless often mean overeating however it seems to me that most of us still carry our paltes from the kitchen and plop ourselves down right infornt of the tv.heck,i will admit i do it too so i am really curious where we all eat dinner.
