Would you rather own a computer or a cell phone? Which do you like better, texting or emailing? I would much rather have my lap top than a cell phone. I dont think that cell phones are all that important. By this I mean they have become such an irritant in my life. Everytime I look at my older daughter she has her cellphone. I told her for her birthday I was going to have it surgically attached to her permanently. I have been in lines at stores and there are people talking a blue streak and the cashier is trying to get their attention. It's sickening! I do understand that they can be helpful in a crisis. For me I think that having the internet is a better choice and investment. We can not only chat but use it to keep ourselves updated on the issues going on around the world. For me, its the internet!!! What's your pleasure?dl

I think email is more professional or mature. I have sent text messages before and they were helpful. If you have no phone service, you have no texting ability. At least if you have internet you are able to email. You dont worry about fees or charges. I dont know 6 in one and half a dozen in the other. Its all based on preferenc. dl

not all of my friends have computers and the others don't have cellphone. so it can't be possible to have only one, email or texting. so we really have to have a cellphone and a computer. but if we can have only one of them that can do both, and in much cheaper price than the other, we get the two? what i have right now is smart phone, that lets me do both. and more...

I think that's a great point. Cell phones are a great invention for speedy communication. The problem is the chosen few that abuse it. They make it difficult for everybody because now they are creating laws against using cell phones. This would've never happened if they'd used them as intended. But Im sure Im not the first one to say this. Happy myLotting dl

Hi dear!
I feel that laptop or PCs are better options than owning a mobile handset. In PCs or laptops we get lots of facilities, liked big screen, elaborate key board, mouse and 'DVD drives etc.', which just cannot be there on mobile handsets. I would prefer owning a PC, if I'm given a choice, rather than a mobile phone. No doubt mobile phones have their own utility, but they cannot be compared with PCs.

I fully agree and endorse your views about mobile phones and today's generation is like that, as you have stated.

Hey DPK! I totally agree with you. I was just saying to another myLotter that its not the fact that you like your cell phone. It's the fact that there are people That do NOTHING but playing around with their cell phones. Its dangerous! From what I can tell, its mostly girls around my neck of the woods. Im sure its men too. These kids have no idea of how to look for a book at the library but they can tell the make and model number of the latest, greatest cell phone. Its sickening if you ask me. dl

hello ...
i would say owning both would be great & be used according to situations.
i prefer messaging off my computer, for easier for me to type & send long text.
but as i'm mostly at work, i can make use of my cell phone for the short messages & just to keep inform. i rarely or almost never do long sms conversations like i would do on PC with e-mails, blogs, etc...
some people are unfortunately too much addicted to the mobile technology, it helps somehow, but removes the warmth of real contact & the magic behind a well written mail (with a pen here;) ) ...
i'm an internet addict, not good!;) so be it ...
cheers!

I see that we're alot alike. I like to use the computer to send messages as well. I like the keyboard. I had the full keyboard on my last phone. That I loved. I do think that writing a letter will become an art one day. No one seems to write anything personally these days. Kind of sad if you think about it. I have kept the idea of handwritten cards and letters fresh in my family. We only give handwritten cards. No type written notheing like that. I buy many different types of paper and decorations and we go to it. Its now something we look forward to. Sometimes they give each other cards just because. I couldnt ask for more from my girls. The fact that they are interested in something as well as doing something nice just because is the best. Happy MyLotting. dl

Texting on cell is irritating sometimes. I like the full keyboard rather. Besides, I don't have a cell with many gadgets... so not my favourite. Even then, I would like the net better. It's convenient and doesn't interfere with your daily chorus all the time!

Its a personal choice. I think its based on what your needs are. I love emails too. Every morning I wake up and get my daughter up for school. Me and my hubby go to Dunkins right next door. When I come back I sit on my bed and myLot. I dont know what I would do with my laptop and emailing. I think texting is a hinderance if anything. I dont have the knack for it. dl

i always wanted to have a laptop of my own, but i cannot save much money to buy it. i love internet and i guess most of us. from within the family circle, we cannot have more computers, if we want to communicate often. but with cellphones, it can be done, and it's much cheaper. what i bought for myself, about six months now, is a mobile phone that will let me go online and post to mylot, and that's above calling and texting.

I cannot do without my cellphone. There were times that I have to go back home for a forgotten cellphone. I use it all the time in communicating with my children and friends. I don't want to miss any communication for the day. It is handy, easy to use for emergencies and cheaper. If I need a computer, I am always online while in the office and there are always internet cafes I can find anywhere in the city, if need be.

Hey Money! You remind me so much of my daughter. We went on vacation once and we literally had to turn around 30 minutes into the vacation so she would shut up. I wanted to kill her. My joke is if I could I would have the phone surgically attached to her ear. lol I do understand the attraction. I also think that so many people are losing sight of themselves due to the fact that all they do is worry about their phones. There is so much more to life than a cell phone. As long as you have a life outside of your phone than hey hats off to ya. Its the people that eat, sleep, and drink their cellphones. What happened to reading or hobbies? These people have no clue.. That's all I worry about. dl

I love Internet a lot, but I like texting more than emailing. I think texting is a very important communication tool. They are like talking to a person. Email is not a person to person communication because it goes to the inbox of the recipient. On the other hand texting is pretty personal because, it directly reaches to a person and it immediately brings attention to the recipient. Though Email is cheaper than texting, I like to text most because of the immediacy quality of them.

I am a terrible texter! It takes me forever to get the message typed. I like the email because I can interact more personally. I mean its the point that not every one has the texting skills or likes it. If they have a computer. they can email at not extra charge. dl

Are you sure you're not my child? I swear you could be my daughter's twin. I was asleep when I had her so it's possible that I had another. LoL You and her are two peas in a pod. I often wonder what would happen to yous if cellphones became illegal? dl

I personally like texting as it is fast and easily available.but it also depends on the situation.we cant send long mails through mails and in that case emailing is the best answer, where we can send long mails at pour leisure.as for text it is easily noticed by the reciever ant you can also get the answer soon.you dont have to log in your e mail address again and again.

No doubt that texting is better and faster. I just cant do it well. I am a great typist but when it comes to writing with the phone pad, forget it. I was good when I had the full keypad. When I have to use the number pad and decide A OR B OR C I get confused. Dont ask me why... I think they are both useful. In fact now a days you can buy a phone that has all the computer capabilities to be used just like a computer. I would love it, if I could afford it that is. That's the problem with cell phones. EXPENSE.dl

True enough, cell phone comes more handy and texting is quick and every one now seems to have their cell phone. Some even owns more than 1 cell phone.
No doubt mails is important too. We get free to send what ever emails to others. But for texting, it is paid per text. I have seen a shocking news that a person break a world record where he text his friends and family for 1000 texting everyday. Can't think of how much he got to pay for his bill.

I use the computer and cellphone for different purposes. When I need to call or text somebody, I normally use my phone. I can use it right away without getting and opening my laptop. I use my laptop to work and check the internet. I don't chat anymore as don't have much free time.

if pleasure is so to speak, there is really no problem of discussion, and computer will win. but not everyone has computer although most of them knows that there are cyber cafes that we can use the computer if we want to communicate through emails. but emails take some time before the received can read the message. with cellphones, you can receive the message or the call instantly.

I would love both. But I like using the cell phones in sending messages. It is handy than the computer. The message is instant. And almost all people use he cell phone. Computers are only for emails that are more formal, inspirational messages, etc. People don't always open their emails, not like the cell phone. People use it mostly 24 hours, good for emergency purposes.

You are right in saying people dont read their emails. My husband always has thousands of emails. I am constantly telling him to check the emails. You never know if there is something important in them. If you send a message by phone, they get it right away. Thanks for pointing that out. Its so true! dl
