Ok, I need some creative assistance. I have been banging my head against the wall and still cannot come up with the perfect thing. Here's the deal. I just purchased a 9 night Caribbean cruise for over the Christmas Holidays. It is to be a gift for my special someone.... she has no idea. This will be our first big vacation together, and our second christmas. So I am looking for presentation ideas. I dont want the boring wrap the travel documents up and hand them over. I was thinking more along the lines of an announcement or invitation type of thing and a small gift to precede the cruise info. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks all!

My parents "gave" their children trips to Hawaii and California two Christmases in a row and my mother did it in a really adorable way.
So here is my suggestion, from experience. I understand if it's a little difficult but it could be really sweet. Wrap a lot of little kitschy items. Like a small plastic boat, a flowered lei, a small jewelry box of sand and her favorite swim suit. You can put everything in one box or you can have several little boxes. Just put things that represent her, represent your relationship and represent the things you want from this vacation. If you do small boxes then she'll be confused and wonder what's going on until you give her the information. It'll keep it a surprise until the last minute.
Don't feel like you have to do this. You could also have tropical flowers delivered with an invitation to join you in a special location. Something like that.

Thanks for the ideas! I am still brainstorming. Actually planning to take a day off from work just to figure it all out!

I have a suggestion for the gift. How about a Hawaiian shirt or a bikini? Or maybe even just a big beach towel. That would be great to give along with the tickets.
It would be nice if you could give her the tickets ahead of time so that she could make plans. And also so that the two of you could go through the different excursions and things that there are to do on the ship and see what there is to do. It is always nice to have something to look forward to.
Maybe you could trick her, by calling her before you get off work and telling her that there is something that you need to discuss. You don't have to make it sound bad, just get her curiosity going. Then maybe something unique to put the gift in and hand it to her. She will probably say "I don't get it". That's when you could throw it out.
I wished I could come up with something better for you. If I do, I'll be sure and let you know. Good luck!
