Hello out there. I have not written a lot as of late because I have been to busy with Doctors trying to find out what I have.
Thankfully it is not MS, however it is MPS, or myofascial pain syndrome. I was wondering how many suffer from this condition and what do you do about it when the pain becomes too much? How do you handle the mental part? The exhaustion? Most of all, all the Doctors visits.
Thanks in advance,
Ainge

This affects your muscle tissue. It has several causes but the most common is due to overuse. Yea,you are right about the trigger point which can be felt with your thumb or ball of your palm. when you move your thumb or palm across the area of pain, and you feel a bump, like a solid round ball underneath your muscles. That is actually the one that causes the pain. Its a group of muscles, contracting non stop. Most often you find them in areas that are continually stressed like the shoulders, the upper back, near the shoulder blade, midback. Relaxation plus physical therapy can relieve the pain. If you are lucky to come across a physical therapist who has great hand skills in doing "stretch and spray" technique, you are lucky! In severe cases, doctors prescribe injection to that trigger point. BUt this will continually come back if you continue to stress the muscle. I should say, treating yourself a nice massage and back stretch after a stressful day, or giving your back a break from continuous activity will prevent MPS from coming back soon. If untreated, they actually get bigger as the number of muscles continually contract non stop. I hope this little information helps..

Thank you for your great responce. I am in PT and my Dr does teh hand skills as well as chiropracters.
I want to stay away from the injection. I also was told my MPS will not go away. My PT Dr has me using different things for me to work on myself at home as well.
My back along the spine are like ropes and the balls I have are very large.
Thank you again for your great answer.

I have been researching about this "disease" for quite sometime now. Well hopefully it is not yet categorized as disease. But anyway, I have MPS and I have been suffering from it since May so it would be my third month now It is really painful and very distracting. I cannot concentrate very well in my work and most times I have to stop because the pain is unbearable!
Meds like muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatory help me a lot! I avoid coffee as it dries my muscles out making them more stiff!
Hope you are well now. I hope to hear from you!
