David Shepherd, one of the most prolific and consistent umpires cricket has ever seen has succumbed to cancer. He has officiated 172 ODIs and 92 Tests. He also has the record of standing in three consecutive World cup finals. He is well known for his superstitious belief especially standing on one leg when the score reaches nelson(111 and its multiples). Your tribute to this gentleman is welcome!

David Shepherd was a top class umpire. I cant recall any controversial decision that he has given. He is probably the best umpire of all time. The players, the ICC and his fellow umpires held him in high regard. I wont forget how he lifted his feet and jumped all around each time the scored reached unlucky Nelson. The cricketing world has lost a legend. Rest In Peace David.
