Did you want a Girl or a Boy?

When you were pregnant did people always ask whether you wanted a girl or a boy? How did you respond?
Some woman say, "Yes" or "I don't care, I just want a healthy baby." But some women know what they want and are happy to say it: a girl that they can dress in cute clothes and bond with over girlie things later in life. Or a son because boys are "easier to raise" and they're supposed to love their moms more than girls do.
How about you? Did you want a boy or a girl? Why? What did you have?

I wanted boys and that was what I received. I would have loved a little girl just as much but for me, I wanted the boys. My husband really wants a girl and we may try again in the future. I just like boys a lot. I imagine having a girl to be a lot more work than a boy. I imagine I would end up with a high maintenence girly girl and that would be very hard for me. Perhaps not, but that is what I imagine.

Good for you! I am so glad you got your baby girl... How old is she now? My boys are 3 and 7 months... Do you dress her in lots of pink?

Whatever as long as it is healthy as all children are blessing from God and everyone should be thankful for having wonderful children to care of and when one grow old they would be the one to take care of in return.

Children are such a wonderful blessing and I think you are completely satisfied no matter what the gender. It is fun to think of how you would spend time with either gender. My mother said something a couple of years ago that made a lot of sense to me. She said there is only a short amount of time that we get to enjoy each other as adults. Before I was a child and in the not so distant future, she will be elderly. We have been thoroughly enjoying each other since that statement. Eventually, I will do my part to take care of her, as she did for me.

The first time round, it didn't matter if it was a boy or a girl...but somehow I knew it was going to be a boy. And a boy it was. Second time round, I wanted a girl....and I didn't know if it wa s aboy or girl. Since my older son also wanted a girl, I tried to convince him that it could be a boy too. But inside I wasn't sure either ways. It turned out to be another boy. I didn't have any reasons for wanting a boy or girl...except that I could indulge in dressing up a girl.

When I was pregnant with my first I just knew all along I wanted a Girl and told everyone I would prefer a girl even though I will be blessed either way. I got my little girl. With my second I definitely wanted a Boy and I got a boy. Hopefully I will welcome baby number three soon if the hubby agrees, but I think third time around I want another girl. I miss all the cute little girly clothes :)

It would seem that boys are highly regarded in your culture. I love that my boys will carry on my husbands name. I wonder why the boy will take better care of the family though? When the girl marry into another family, does that mean they are estranged from the birth family?

To be honest I've always wanted to have a baby girl since you're right, I want the dress her in cute clothes and bond with over girlie stuff later on. I was thankful when I had my ultrasound and found out that my first baby is a girl. I'm hoping to get a baby boy next but of course my hubby and I are planning to have another baby probably two years from now since we still need to save up.

When I was trying to get pregnant I said I wanted a little boy and that's what I got. I really wouldn't have cared if it was a boy or girl...just as long as it was healthy. I just wanted a little boy because I used to babysit and the little boys were so loving. I just wanted a boy. Now, if I ever get pregnant again I would like to have a little girl so I can have one of both...a boy and a girl.

I have 5 kids. 3 girls and 2 boys. When I was first pregnant I only wanted a son. however as luck turned out I was blessed with a girl, then another, finally it's a boy! I thought that was it for me but I wanted my son to have a little brother, again I was blessed with another girl on my final try I had a boy. I always wanted a boy or to have all boys because I thought it would be easier. I love all my children equally and they're all equally a handful so it wouldn't have mattered.

hello ...
i just want my wife to be pregnant, don't care if boy or girl.
we are married since 7 years now & having so much trouble to conceive. fortunately we found a new doctor who cares about our problem more than milking our wallet.
so i'll just say, boy, girl or whatever ( ;) ) ... most welcome!
cheers!

The first 2 or 3 kids I did not care too much. Ok by the 3rd I did want a girl (first two were boys). I got another boy on my 3rd. My 4th was a girl and we lovvvvvvvvved having a daughter so we tried again. #5 was a boy and we took that one the hardest. #6 was a boy. #7 was a boy. #8 was a boy. I kid you not.LOL We finally tried the "girl diet" and got another daughter for #9. She is almost 6 months old now. We feel really complete having another daughter. Dont get me wrong, we love all our boys dearly and wouldn't trade them for the world. But we are happy our first daughter has the sister she always wanted.

All through my first pregnancy I wanted a girl, and so also right through my second. But once my sons were born, it did not really matter. When the little one is laid in your arms, all you can do is thank the Lord for the little miracle. Praise the Lord.

During my first full term pregnancy I didn't care what we had. I just happy to be pregnant and like most women I just wanted a healthy baby. My second pregnancy I wanted a boy because I wanted at least one of each. I was lucky and got my boy and we had one of each. When I got pregnant again 7 years later it didn't really matter since we already had a boy and a girl. We got another boy and he is just a true joy.

For my first I wanted a little girl. I was 18 and away from home and I really wanted a girl for all the wrong reasons. But, I got her... and she isn't really a girlie girl so I probably got the best of both worlds with that. Then when I got preggo the second time around I for sure wanted a boy... I wanted to have my 2 kids and be done. But, I got a girl... and she is a princess punk type! Arggg. When I found out I was pregnant the 3rd time I had convinced myself a boy was not in the cards for me. So, when I found out I finally got my little boy I was so freaking happy you cannot imagine.
In the end we really all just want a healthy baby, but lets face it, part of the fun is seeing who gets what they want... a boy or a girl?

I am now heavily pregnant with our first and guess what, we still do not know what we are having yet lol. Yes, we've had ultrasounds, but our little one is very shy and won't cooperate lol. He/she kept his/her legs tightly closed! Honestly we do not care about the gender. I love both boy or baby girl. The health is more important.

Hi feodda!
Well, when I was pregnant, everyone thought I was going to have a boy... They would say my belly was shaped like a boy, or the way I was feeling, but they were so WRONG! lol. I always wanted a little boy to be my first being that, if I would have a little girl, he would protect her in a way... But it didn't work that way.. Right now, my little girl always plays the little mommy role when she sees a baby, so when the time comes, she will be great help!

When I was pregnant to my son, my usual answer was "As long as I have a healthy baby." I was just being honest, I really didn't care about the gender. I'd be happy whether it's a girl or a boy. Now if I'd get pregnant again, I definitely want a baby girl because I already have a boy.
