Hubby's coworker went for a physical recently, and apparently she was told she's 4 pounds overweight, so now she's going on a crash diet!
I personally am quite a few pounds overweight... like 50 lbs or more. To think this girl is so worried about 4 lbs is just so irritating!!
Do you know anyone who's super skinny but thinks they need to diet? Does it irritate you?

I have a cousin who has anorexia. It doesn't irritate me. I feel badly for her. But people who are thin and go on about how they need to lose weight, people who are young and complain about being old, etc. are very annoying. But the weight thing has a lot do with our whole society and the entertainment industry and how they portray people, especially women. They are making an impossible standard for people to live up to and it makes people feel inadequate.

Those were two of my best friends in high school. THey were never over 100 lbs. They say the tiniest amount of "fluff" and it's crash diet ect. I remember them complaining about not having the female version of a 6pack so they had to use the ab roller like mad & no results.... DUH you have to lift weights silly girls. And being that I've always been double those two, it sucked going shopping with them. I almost never fit into anything in the stores they could shop in back then. I definiatly cannot now.

I'd love to be a 10-12 either. I don't forsee any of that til I can afford a gym membership or gastric or lapband & I'm terrified of surgery sooooo I can just say as long as I'm at a plateau I'm ok, if I gain heaps then we are in trouble.
Sadly my weight started in my hips more than anywhere so when I was last around 135 only 20 yrs ago (HOW DEPRESSING IS THAT?) I was a sz16 @ that small weight. Anything in the teens would be a blessing but it would be alot of hard work. Wich I wouldn't mind if I didn't have the kids and I could do my thing w/o worrying what they are getting into.

Actually I don't think you can lift weights to tone your ab muscles... but I'm not certain the ab roller machines actually work. They probably would have been better off doing crunches like crazy, along with a ton of cardio work outs...
But that's besides the point. I don't think skinny people will ever appreciate how good they have it, until they get fat.
I started off at a size 10-12, I weighed 140-150. I thought I was huge. I was constantly trying to lose more weight.
After the twins were born and I'd gained an insane amount of weight, I truly appreciated the size 12 and wanted to get back there. Right now I'd be ecstatic with a size 12!

personaly i was overwieght 3yrs ago and wished i could figure a way to lose weight. well, it happened that i got very sick and went from 152 down to 117 i looked terrible. then, i got better finally last year and am back up to 138. but sadly i have no man in my life so am not going to worry over it. my daughter kept worrying about it till shes down to a size 1 if she gets sick, shes a goner i told her. she has nothing to fight with. its just stupid the way men make us think we need to be thin.

I don't think it is men who make us feel like we need to be thin, I think it's us. I've been with my husband 8 years. I was a healthy weight before I met him. Once I was with him I started gaining and haven't lost any. Now I want to try to lose some weight, but only because I want to, not because he wants me to. He loves me no matter what.

I'm a bit overweight too, and I admit that sometimes I get self-conscious, but I don't take it really seriously. I want to be healthy, but I think being thin is really overrated. Why do people think that those who are skin and bones are hot? I don't like that kind of body at all. I prefer to look at bodies with a bit of flesh.

The reverse of it! I am 96 lbs and wanting to gain more pounds. At least 120, that is always my wish.

Goodness, 4lbs could just be extra water weight. She needs to know not to take that so seriously!! I am quite a bit overweight, working towards a healthier lifestyle though and my best girlfriend is a 5'8 gorgeous model who weighs 120 soaking wet and often complains that shes getting a gut and needs to lose weight. Makes me crazy cause here I am standing next to her 5'6 and nearly 200. With her I understand its part of her job, and if the Dr told your husbands coworker that she was 4lbs overweight it tells me shes quite small both weight and height so that 4lbs would make an actual difference within her body health-wise. Bigger people can carry more weight, smaller framed people have a weaker structure for carrying excess weight.

No she's not small at all. I'm 5'3 and she's definitly taller than me, not sure by how much, but she's not that tiny, just really skinny.

Four pounds overweight? I would love to only be 4 lbs overweight. The doctor ought to be slapped. This is the cause of many people having a bad self-image and thus resulting in conditions like anorexia and bulimia. Frustrating.

Boy do I feel your pain/anger on that one lol. Right now I'm still about 50-60 lbs overweight. If you go by the top of the range for my height and what I weigh now then it is 52lbs. I've lost 21 so far. My friend weighs like 145 and complains about it. She is a little soft around the belly but I would kill for that lol. My sister does the same thing too. She barely eats and is skinny and complains about what she weighs. It makes me mad. I also get mad though at the ones who brag they are skinny or that they lost a lot of weight but the way they got to that point is by not eating. I can't do that. I want to lose this weight but I'm not giving up food. I love to eat, I just am trying to figure out a better way to do it.

I started off around 140-150 lbs. I was a size 10-12. At the time I wasn't happy with that. I thought I could stand to lose another 20-30 lbs...
Of course now I'm aiming to get back to 150 ish and I would be fricken extatic if I did!

It use to irritate my friends when I would watch my size. What my friends did not know is that my mom's side of the family is all really over weight more than 50 pounds probably more like 100 and I have always been concerned that I will get that way as well. They have trouble tying their shoes and I never want to have that problem unless I'm pregnant LOL

I have the same problem on my mother's side of the family. I've always told people if I get to 250 and I'm not trying to lose weight, then shoot me! I am overweight, but not near 250... and I am trying to lose it, so I'm safe for now.

Hey kats! I don't know how any doctor could tell anyone that
weighs 116 pounds that they are 4 pounds overweight unless they
were a midgit! That is totally insane and so is the person who
is freaking out about! But, I blame the doctor who was stupid
enough to say it to her! That is so totally absurd! All of us
who are 20,30,40, 50 or pounds overweight know what that means!
Those amounts can be uncomfortable, health risks etc! So I
really find it unimaginable that any physician would dare comment
on 4 pounds! And if he did he should lose his freaken license!

I don't even think there should be such a thing as '4 pounds overweight'. That's such a minuscule amount, I can't believe a doctor would encourage paranoia over 4 measly pounds - especially when they only weight 116 pounds to begin with.
I think I could stand to lose about 10-15 pounds but it's not something that's about to consume me. I'm tall so that much really wouldn't make a noticeable difference to anyone but me and it's just a personal preference, not a medical necessity. If I get my butt in gear this summer and lose it, great, and if I don't then I don't.

I have never understood all this hype about being a certain weight. We each have different body types. Not all of us can be 110 lbs. I honestly don't think I can get much below 140 ish without looking sick, and I'm 5'3". But doctors want me no bigger than 130. Well too bad, I'm shooting for 150 and I'll be happy with that!
You know according to the Body Mass Index chart, Arnold Schwarzenagger (however you spell that) is considered obese.

I always think that the weight thing they give for height etc is stupid. It is far too low. Yes, I do know someone like this and it is a friend of mine that I care for. she is my age and such a tiny 5 foot person and she looks fragile enough already. Her Dr. said that she has put on too much weight around her middle. Her waist is 28" for heaven's sake and she is in her sixties! she has cut out all fat and is busy doing push ups. The lack of fat has seemed to make her skin look older and more lined. That Dr. would have a fit if he saw me.

I would never want to be too thin. I am aiming for 150, I think that's a pretty healthy weight. The doctors say I should aim for 115... I think I'd be a twig at that weight and my husband would snap me in half!

You would hate me - I'm one of those 120 lb girls who's always trying to diet to get to 115 lb - and occasionally, when I make it, am I happy about it? Nope, I think okay, we're at 115 lb, now let's see if we can starve ourself down to 110 lb. I don't think it's one of my more admirable traits! But it is what it is, I guess.

My sister missy skinny minnie got the "mommy makeover" because she felt she was overweight, atleast I think that's one of her reasons. She can fit into a size three jeans, or she could, now she size 0! Argh! On top of that I think she exercises with the wii, has tapes that she exercises with, and she does tae kwon do with mine and my husband's nephew, though that's more because he didn't want to do it alone...
Lol, I, on the other hand are overweight, I really should be doing the wii fit everyday!

My wife has a sister which is extremely skinny,I do not know what is wrong with her,she used to already be as skinny as a twig, and then she had a tummy tuck which made her even skinnier and I do not know why,and now she does exercises I guess to try and stay skinny even though she was already skinny, and from the way she looks you would think she starves her self, which I do not know why someone would want to be that skinny, and it annoys the crap out of me,because I am not fat,but I am healthy and I eat everyday that is what I tell everyone lol.
