My granny used to say fast at least once in a week, it is good for the stomach. I was fasting for sometime and then I followed Santhoshi Matha pooja and was not taking any sour items like tamarind, banana, yoghurt etc. It was more or less like taking less food and skipping once in the night. Do you fast?

Actually for ladies taking care of the family itself is like doing yagna. I read it somewhere. So do not worry. I still followed, Santhoshi Matha vratham for eight weeks, vaibhava laxmi for eight weeks and for more times like this but now I do not fast. I am a diabetic I cannot withstand hunger and feel giddy.

Hai agv0419, if you cannot fast, do not force yourself. God never asks us to fast. We only fast for our satisfaction's sake.

How a wish I can fasting but I tried it only one day last Holy Week but I can't survive without eating rice. I feel dizzy and my stomach always growling. It is a failure for me and my goal that time is to remove the toxic in my body but I can't continue only eating raw vegetables and fruits.

I do fast on special occasions, but only when I have access to fruits. In my opinion, a fast is truly accomplished only when you follow the terms properly. My mother did a lot of fasts per week, and that's not good as that resulted in gallstones..

Very true. The rules are not same for all. Fasting means keep the stomach light. Eat fruits, liquid diet etc. and avoid heavy sumptuous food.

I could see the reasoning behind this. I knew a family that only consumed water one day a week. I don't think that I could go that long without eating, but I go days where I eat very little to days that I can't seem to get satisfied. I don't do that on purpose, it's just the way it happens. Seems to be okay for me right now. I think giving the stomck a chance to empty could be good for your digestive track. Don't take my word for it, I am not an expert.

The same point is said by elders. Give rest for stomach to clean itself so that it will work better.

No No. Breakfast is very essential for the body and skipping it will create some health problems. Please do not skip breakfast. Fasting means not fully fasting, take either some fruit, some vegetable, curd (yoghurt, water, juice any of these things in a very small quantity but not major food.

I don't think it is good for the stomach.I have had a stomachache for almost 2 years,so eating regularly is really essential for me.I feel uncomfortable while starving. So I won't and daren't fast for even once. have a nice weekend!

People who have health problems, old and sick and children are not supposed to fast however.
