Sometimes it is evident that ignorance is a bliss. It is easy to make ignorant people happy. They may be content with what they have.Ignorant people may not be aware of the severity of real problems in life. They may be content with what they have. Further if some one close to them say that things will be alright soon, they will easily believe it and start having a good sleep.
On the other hand intelligent people will brood over many worries. They have a lot of targets to achieve and they have many things to worry in life.
Would you prefer being an ignorant person?

no. i don't want to be ignorant. i want to be aware of everything around me and learn all i can about life and my surroundings. even though it is stressful i must learn to move forward inspite of my problems. Ignorance dosen't make us intelligent. learn all you can- but don't stress- move forward. You can't control what happens whether you have intelligence or ignorance.

I think that ignorant people may have a "happy" life, because like you've said they don't know about the problems of the real world. They will trust what other people say and think the world is a nice place, not knowing what real life is.
But I think that being intelligent would be better, because you actually know what's going on around you. You wouldn't be left out in the dark, not realizing what's out there. Intelligence allows you to have all those experiences and it gives meaning to our lives, with all the goals and the worries. Ignorant people have no meaning . . .

All of us are ignorant in some ways. One cannot say that he or she is intelligent in everything. Intelligence is about being knowledgeable about something, but not everything. As we read some more or learn new things, we discover that we are still ignorant in some things. Say for example, a farmer, he or she may be ignorant about the new technologies, such as computers, but they are more knowledgeable about farming (hands-on and not theoretical).

Hello dear brother,
Ignorance is like being a child...so innocent, and worry free.
Thinking myself being a child...back into my childhood, where i can play, enjoy simple life..eating,playing,have quarrels with other kids sometimes and obeying my parents(my grandparents who raised me)ok..it's fine.
But,the disadvantage of it...as a kid,we can't decide for ourselves alone,we need adult supervision.
And,this situation is same like as being ignorant...simple life,contentment...and a little confusion.
Ignorance may have advantages and disadvantages...as well as being intellect.
I would rather have a little intelligence for some important things...and a little bit of ignorance to unwanted things.

Yes, sometimes ignorance is a blessings and have contentment in life because you do not strive for success and just live a day without knowing what has happened in his/her life. I do prefer the intelligent people because they are the people who brings modernization, civilization and technology like the internet. Not all intelligent are worrier people they are achiever and wont stop till they achieve their dreams to come true. Therefore, both ignorant and intelligent has its own advantages and disadvantages.

I don't believe ignorant people are happier that intelligent ones. It all comes to one question: what is happiness? No ignorant person I know can give a proper response to this question, actually, most of them don't even ask themselves what is happiness. On the other side, a number of intelligent people I've asked this question believe they didn't find the answer but asked themselves what happiness is many times, they asked themselves why they are here, why things happen to them... and my strong belief is that as long as you keep on asking yourself what's your life purpose, the answer will come... and you will be "happy", whatever that means. I wouldn't want to be ignorant, because it means I would still have a long journey ahead and I don't want to start it all over again!

Happiness lies on your heart no matter you are ignorant or intelligent person. When a person is intelligent there are things more difficult for them, they know almost all things. If things gone wrong they were there to do the questioning, analyzing and doing the process as it needed. While ignorant person rely on what intelligent person ordered. Because they don't know anything they rely on smart ones to keep him working. It is bad if the intelligent person will not help the ignorant one but fool them. If you are contented eventhough your ignorant, I know somehow you are happy. it really depends on the person. I choose to be intelligent one, or be ignorant person , be learn and be one of the intelligent person.

you are right vijay..i think ignorant are happy becoz they are satisfied...being intelligent makes your brain work more and that gives u restlessness and also you have high goals set in your life...and thus cant be happy easily...those who have less knowledge think that they have reached heights when they achieve even a bit but intellectuals never have the end of achievements and so makes life bit restless...

Using a lot of common sense, of course it is the intelligent people who learn to use his talents and skills would enable him to reach his goals in life. Being intelligent one could access a lot of resources and enjoy the results of his achievement where he could enjoy luxury and comfort. Then, being ignorant they could be happy on simple things. Seeing simplicity with less knowledge keep their mind unpolluted from the materials desires of wealth and greediness. I think both have their own ways to enjoy life depending on how they spend it as long as one feel contented, with a merry heart then one could experience happiness.

Hi vijayanths, I think it is ignorant people. :) They dont fear inflation, they dont have to plan for retirement, they dont know what causes diseases, or diabetes. Nor do they know the significance of Dec.21, 2012. lol. We, the so called "intelligent" persons have already discussed that date once too often. Haven't we?

for me poor/ rich..intellegent/ ignorant./ dumb..........just the same in terms of handling life.......coz we people we can choose and dream and achieve goals or whatever we do to our life....people can choose happiness in everyway they like...sad maybe if nah contented............the problem of us people coz we don't have satisfaction..we don't satisfy in just simple and easy things...we crave more that lead us in more troubles ....if we only satisfy of what we got and be thankful with it....

Firsthand I'd say the ignorant people are those who can live happier, but then I get to think about it and maybe they are more at risk to loose their happiness and not find a way to get it back. While the intelligent people should probabily take more to find happiness but maybe it'd be easier for them to keep it.
I'm just thinking about this recession as an example, I guess both an ignorant and an intelligent could have reached happiness in their own ways and times before recession started. But then, the ignorant is more likely to lose it because of lacking reactivity and solutions to get out of troubles, while the intelligent person may find them much sooner.
Probabily the ignorant worries much less than the intelligent, but in the overall picture I think I'd choose intelligent.

I think you're referring to stupid people, the morons. One can be ignorant and yet intelligent. Ignorance is marked by a lack of knowledge, information etc. whereas stupidity is characterized by a lack of intelligence.
But yeah, I agree with you on that. Stupid people tend to live happier lives in general whereas the intelligent folks amongst us would rack their brains about not knowing enough, considering themselves ignorant and stupid.

Happiness is a feeling. A feeling is something that is beyond logic or knowledge. No amount of convincing or rationalization will lead you to happiness. You say, 'I FEEL HAPPY' rather than 'I THINK I'm HAPPY.'
From here I argue that happiness does not varies to your ignorance or you being smart. An unhappy person, whether smart or dumb can be unhappy by one act. INABILITY TO LIVE BY THE MOMENT,Happiness is now. It is never your past neither your future. As long as you can cherish the pleasure of NOW, you can be happy whether you are dumb or smart.

Hello vijayanths this is checkmail and do have an diff kind of opinion in this subject.According to me even the Ignorants and Intelligents can live an life much more happier than others.Intelligent can live an happy life by innovative ways and Ignorants can live an happy life by just not knowing the problem itself.Intelligents get happiness when they solve the problem.Well the best way is to prefer to be little of both.
