Have you experienced difficulty getting up from sleep?

A while ago as i woke up from sleep , i had difficulty getting up from bed. it seems my eyes won't open but my mind is awake already. and then finally i woke and get up and walk out of my room as i thought i did. then i called out to my sister to pick the mess on the floor cause my eyes was not yet fully open because i just woke up and i might step on the big wood on the floor and my sister shouted back that she won't do it for me. SO i thought i was really having this conversation with my sister but i realized that i didn't wake up yet and i am still lying on my bed , still my eyes was closed. i was still in a dream . then i just let my mind get back to reality and when i finally woke up for real, i still could not get up i had to wait for few more minutes and then i was able to change position in my bed and then finally i was finally off my bed and walked out of the room. have you experienced when you thought you finally woke but learned it was still part of the dream and that you have not woke up yet. and just takes a while before your mind really woke up to reality.

Definitely yes!!! I really find it very hard to get up from a good sleep. I rarely sleep this past few months because of all my work and hobbies so when I find time to sleep, I always get the best out of it. I end up oversleeping up tp 1-2 hours..hehehe

Hi hotsummer Whoa, that is surely a little weird, i mean i am very lazy and i thought your were talking about having the problem of getting up from bed, but your case is a little extreme hehe... well i haven't experienced something like this, it was interesting to go through what you have explained here, well erm... were you sleep walking ? i guess some of the symptoms showing you can probably sleep walk ... not sure though... i guess you are a very deep sleeper.

no it was not a case of sleep walking. it was case where you thought you have woke up but actually you were still dreaming. or dreaming that you woke up already and get up from bed and get yourself ready for the day. but it was all in your dreams. it is when you can't determine dreams from reality which always the case when you are dreaming isn't it?

Many times I have had this experience and it can be quite an interesting one for sure. You want to get out of bed, as your mind is awake, but you still lay in bed and then start dreaming about real life things thinking you are awake as they are happening to find out you're still sleeping as well. It can be frustrating sometimes as then when you finally wake up you realize these are really still things needing to be done as well.

I always face the difficulties of getting up all of the time. At night, I usually feel it's tough to get asleep. But in the morning, I feel it's very difficult to get up. But if I consistently wake up at the same time in consecutive days, then it would a lot easier for me to wake up. Usually I woke up late during the weekend. Therefore, it's the toughest for me to wake up on Monday morning. I also find that my eyes could be hardly opened after waking up. Sometimes, I just sit on the couch and closed my eyes for while before warming up my body with simple exercise.

Haha, I think both of us are not morning person. I love the night time, because of its serenity and cool atmosphere. My brain could function better during night time, compared to in the early morning. I really couldn't wake up when my biological clock is messed up due to inconsistent sleep hour of the previous days. I usually keep on snoozing the alarm until I am late for work LoL.

of course I did!Maybe everyone:)In fact,I was deeply troubled by this problem at high school. In early winter morning,it was still dark and very cold,I always had defficlties to creep out of my warm bed...But I had to,my school was far from my home and I didn't want to be late.So i figured out a way to promote my quick getting up. I made a rule for myself.that is,if I got up early and quickly,I could have my favorite food for breakfast;if didn't,I ate nothing.woo,it really worked! And after getting up,I washed my face with cold water and do a litter exercises to wake me up thoroughly.so when you have difficulty in getting up,what you need is some determination:)

Sometimes this happens with me also. Its very hard to wake to up in the morning specially after a late night at work. My eyes too don't like to open and I try to raise them with a lot of efforts. The first ray of light through my eyes hurts life knives striking me. I slowly adjust to it and finally my mind and eyes work in a complete synchronization.

I have had those times when I got up and got dressed and ready and a whole conversation, just to wake up and actually realize it was all a dream about what I should of been doing. I think it is because I know I need to get up but I am still tired and I don't feel like it.
@hotsummer (13837)

totally you are correct. it seems when we are tired that we really want to force ourselves to get up but since our body won't cooperate we thought all along we were actually doing it already. and but was disappointed to realize it was all in our minds and we have not actually move a finger yet.

Hello hotsummer this is checkmail and often when dealdy tired i also suffer the same problem. Its difficult to get up the next morning due to been tired. Most of the time my eyes won't open or my ful body feels lazy or aching, pain etc.The best way to lessen this problem is to relax first after getting tired then sleep.Like takin a bath, doing some meditation, enjoying some family time etc.

hi hotsummer :) oh yes, even I already heard my alarm clock, I still stay a little bit longer in bed. I always have alibis whenever my sister or father tries to wake me up so early. Especially if I got so tired from work, I tend to stay in bed longer than the usual, that I sometimes reach the point that I'm going to be late at work. Like I only have 15 minutes left. But there were times that I thought I am already up and preparing my things to work but in fact, I was all dreaming..hahaha. I don't know why, but it seems real though. There are also odd times that I got up from bed so early thinking I'm going to be late but.... its weekend and theres no work! I just laugh at myself. It's so funny..

For me, I rarely have a dream when falling asleep and usually, I can get up early without any difficulty. Every day, I will have many jobs to do, so, I must get up early and to start my whole new day. Although some day, I may feel tired of getting up so early, I have to finish all my plans and tasks(life is just like a journey full of tasks). If I have difficulty getting up, then I may use a alarm clock to wake me up on time. Now, I have formed a habit of getting up early without any difficulty.

that is nice that you can wake up easily without the need of alarm clock or having someone else wake you up so that you won't be late at work. your body's clock is working really well.

i experienced that . like talking in my sleep. i was really awake by thought and my eyes are open still but i can't any more move my body. and my thoughts are not that normal any more. i am more like a drunk person like my thinking were not straight. and so i tried to move my body but can't so i just close my eyes and sleep. i didn't try to force myself to wake up any more. i don't know why there are times when i wanted to wake up or move my body but i just can't. this is still some mystery to me.

Yes that happens to me too although not often. I thought I was already awake but the reality is I am still dreaming. Everything seems real but when awaken I realise that everthing was just a dream. Some dreams are good and others not so good. The good ones, we wish, were not dreams at all.

often, getting up on time is also a big problem for me. every night i go to bed before 11PM, and i can fall asleep very soon, it seems as if it is very regular, but when the clock alarms the next day, i usually turn it off as soon as possible. and get down to sleep again. as a result, i am late for work many times. haha, i think the biggest problem for me is the bad lazy habbit but i cannt get out of it. so i had to overcome myself day by day.
