Fern Spider - Wolf Spider Cross Plant

Today I read an article about 10 bizarre genetic combinations and one of them was the fern spider. Apparently an Italian Wolf Spider has been crossed with a plant, yes a plant, to study the spiders survival rates with camouflage. Currently, it is the only animal to be crossed with a plant. What are your thoughts on this Fern Spider? Do you think scientists should be doing this kind of thing?

i've heard of all sorts of genes being added to animals before. what happened here? where is this article and do you have a link? very interesting discussion btw and on the whole i do not think scientists should be doing this - it can go too far, it can be cruel and it can go wrong.
