NY 23rd district now a 2 horse race! Is a 'conservative' win good for the GOP?

Scozzafava has reportedly withdrawn, though her name will still be on the ballott. If Hoffman wins and has moved the local GOP to the right - - is that a good thing for the national GOP, that the more moderate wing has had to withdrqaw and lose to a far-right winger?

Good riddence. This is something I would like to see repeated not only in states across the nation, but at the national level in 2010. This may well be the proverbial "shot heard round the world" in the next revolution. No more republicans, no more democrats, good riddence to them all. I don't see this as s good thing for the Republicans. I also see it is an omen for the democrats, their days, both dems and repubs are numbered.

Amen to that. Maybe candidates will finally have to get elected based on their suitability as opposed to the letter next to their name. Wouldn't that be a dream come true?

It could be good for the GOP since it will send a message that people can't get elected based solely on the letter next to their name. I'm more concerned with what's good for the country than any political party and the best thing for the country is if people will start voting for the best candidate as opposed to whoever has the preferred letter next to their name.

not to mention that that rino is now backing the democrat. That should say an awful lot about who the GOP originally put up there. I am hoping for Hoffman!

Who cares if it is good for the GOP? In my opinion, the GOP proved several years ago they were more concerned with pleasing the DNC than standing up for Conservative values. That tactic may have not been bad for the Country if the DNC was not so riddled with Alinsky-esque revolutionaries. The GOP just kept reaching left and reaching left only to get its hand repeatedly bit until they arrived at where they are now, a left leaning populist party still under attack from the left and untrusted by the right. It is apparent the Dems are unwilling to compromise, so conservatives need more representatives that are unwilling to compromise. Go get 'em Hoffman
