I received this email from one of my friends and I think I should do what my friend says. That is to forward this email to others. So here it goes. Read carefully and forward this to your friends and relatives and ask them to do the same. Will you? We all are human beings. Anything can happen to us any time. Below given mail is self explanatory. We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE." For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference! Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today! Please forward this.. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about this It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

I have seen this forward before and think that it is a great idea. People would know to whom to contact, without having to short the characters of the person's name.

The emergency here is not the loss of the cell phone but rather the loss of memory (partial/complete) during an accident to the cell owner. It could help a passerby who acts as a good samaritan or the cops or the medical attendants to get in touch with the cell owners near and dear ones. Thanks for forwarding this text as it will help all their near and dear ones in case of an emergency (ICE).

hi meapas thats great for all who use cell phones, but I do not.but I wear a medic alert necklace that has a phone number on the back where all my medications are listed, my physical problems and the name and phone number of my personal physician and the hospital name where he is affiliated. So when I had a bad fall and fractured my shoulder, I was almost out of it but the phone numbers on the necklace gave the paramedics the the info they needed..

Indeed a very good idea. I liked this. Though you don't have cell phone, you can still be taken care of in case of an emergency. Hope you stay healthy always and take good care of yourself. May God bless you and be there to protect you always. Have a nice time.

Hi Iriene, So nice to hear you again. You know something Iriene, our world is full of very funny people. If you throw a discussion about what lucky colour of innerwear one wears then there will be so many responses for it. For a meaningful discussion like this hardly a few out of nearly 1,89,000 people responds. Isn't it really funny. Well coming back to the original discussion it is indeed a very good one. People should enable their near and dear ones to get in touch in case any such emergency arises. Many times it becomes very difficult for the authorities to contact the right person in such emergency situation. People are left unattended by their loved ones when there is no contact number on them. Hope to see you soon till then all the best.

Ice is good advice all should follow but what happens if the cell phone is destroyed in an accident? Well there has to be a method and way to call the near and dear ones and who decides for calling ? I think that there should be a special red blinking nu mber on the cell phone of each and every user which should blipp in Red LED like an Alarm on the cell phone and point to that number in the screen which should automatically be dialled irrespective of owners effort that suggestion should be taken for serious consideration thank you for this post

Yes you are right. There should be cell phones of this type too. As for now let us store emergency numbers in ICE. Concerned authorities will know whom to contact. Technology is moving faster than light and so we can expect some very innovative gadgets in very near future.
