lord monckton, a man who thinks the climate change treaty is simply a conspiracy to introduce a sinister new world order, has been rejected by fox news as being astonishingly too extreme. now people who watch fox news more than i do is this something that has happened before - does this channel actually have standards or is this a one off?

Well maybe last week when the White House press Sec. took them to the woodshed it knocked some sense it their heads!I really doubt that, but it could be the reason! I know they didn't finally face reality! That would be to much to ask! Being a red news source is a needed niche for the USA, because the real fair and balanced, blue news networks have a monopoly! tdemex

I would assume that was part of the private discussion, they haven't made it public, but sure would have loved to have been a fly on the wall! The power of the the president is very heavy duty here! They just got tired of the lies and inaccuracies they were putting out, this part got leaked out, but the talk in the wood shed was taboo! T----

so, could you elaborate? what "lies" have they told in their reporting? Thats a pretty generalized charge, so if you have some specific information the white house felt was incorrect or dishonest, please throw up a link or two? A video clip of the offending news piece along with a white house correction would be great.

Now now, rabbit, you're forgetting John Stuart Mill's infamous bon mot, "You don't have to be stupid to be a conservative, but most conservatives are stupid".

I don't know if I am able to give a propper response to this one, there is so much to say I don't know if a single thread is sufficiant to cover all the areas this entails and I don't know if I could do it justice, but let me try to nutshell my thoughts...
I have watched Monckton in action before and he makes a compelling case on man made global warming, you can argue philosophy, but it's hard to argue hard data, though I am not here to do that either,I think such is beyond the scope of your original post.
As for a one world government....Dicey subject. there are so many differnt ways this is interpreted and theorized. I don't doubt there are those in the world who would like to see and actually do work towards such an animal. I also don't doubt that there are such people in the U.N. and even with in my own nation.....but again, I think this is also beyond the scope of your thread.
Fox will have all sorts on to express their views, no matter how agreable or disagreable and I see nothing wrong with it. In fact, as much as I detest main stream news these days, at least I get to hear about things I might not normaly other than from alternate news sources.

think the majority of new announcers on the tv channels now days are opinionated, pompous a$$es and have no right being on. There just aren't any good ones left. Sadly they get away with murder. Many sound more like they are certifiable than any certifiable dips could possibly sound.

We've just been blessed with Monckton's presence here in sunny Australia, and I have to say that it has been a very long time since I have been subjected to such a farrago of nonsense from such a pathetic loser. Unfortunately, our press is so controversy-addicted that it gave to fool coverage.

Our current opposition leader (a pugilistic, conservative wingnut) is a climate change sceptic, and replaced a climate change believer in a palace coup last year. The weight of public opinion has forced him to now make a pretence of belief, but he is nevertheless campaigning viciously to block the imposition of a carbon tax scheme, and since our electorate is made up of the normal large proportion of sheep whose only thought is what's going into their hip pocket next, it will probably win him the next election. I might have to emigrate to Greece.

This debate over Fox amuses us Australians. I saw a little of their work during the last campaign, and thought they were an extreme Right Wing mouthpiece, so imagine my surprise when people here against Obama were claiming Fox to be Liberal. I think I saw something here last week about 14% of Americans think Fox is liberal. I suspect most "right thinking" Americans have no idea what a really "liberal" news service would look like. I imagine they would think it was run by Stalin's descendants.

They interviewed Rush Limbaugh this morning, FOX, that is. Um, need I say more?
I suppose every side, no matter how incindiary, must be represented to keep a balance of sorts. It's part of what constitutes a democracy and freedom of speech.
Um, what was the original topic again??

I was just wondering whether or not it was the climate change or FOX news that has been keeping you from trying out this new version of myLot, especially since Thea even came back to try it.
