I generally have a look to see who's calling first....if i don't know the caller or the number, i let it ring..i have different ring tones for different people, so i know who's calling at all times..
Only if I am expecting a call I will rush to answer it. But I don t usually rush to answer the phone.I have a answering machine so if I don t get to the phone in time they can leave a message .this is for my house phone.

I don't have to run to answer it, as it is always be my whether I am on the computer, or just watching tv. If I go into another room, I will take it with me so I don't have to run to asnwer it. I don't get all that many calls, as I basically only get calls from my kids. Basically, my son will call when he needs me to babysit, and my daughter will call to le me know how things are going with ther, as she lives in another stare, but my son and I live in the same town, so I do have one close anyway. AT night, when I go to bed, I shut my phone off, so I don't get calls, which I don't usually anyway, but just in case, I shut it off, as I don't sleep all that good anyway, so I certainly don't want to be bothered at night. I leave it on the table by my laptop when I retire for the night. I dont' need it with me anyway, since it is off. Take care, and happy mylotting.

Hi icesmile. No, I don't usually rush to the phone when it rings. I can always call back whomever is calling, so long as there is a message or a call back number. If there is neither, but I know the phone rang, then I just blow it off because it probably wasn't important to begin with. LOL
Happy mylotting!

We have a cordless phone here at home, and when i am out I have my cellphone. Both phones have call display. My husband has a VOIP phone on his desk, and it has a talking call display, so we can hear who is calling, and don't have to run to the phone if we don't want to talk to the caller. The cordless phones are near enough to us that we don't have to go far to get them.

I'm like you, I have to see who is calling before I answer the phone. If it's some number I don't know I'll still answer it, usually it's someone wanting me to buy something. But I don't rush to the phone I let it ring a couple of times before I answer.

Actually, I don't. I even feel a little annoyed by the ringing, no matter what time it is. I don't like to speak on the phone either. We have an answering machine, but no one really is ever hearing the messages. My cell of course, which seems to have its own habit to never stop ringing, I put the silence mode, and if I feel like talking with someone who has called, I just call back. Peace and serenity is so good to have it today.

For the home phone I have at home I would usually rush to get it even when I don't know who is on the line. It's not that I run all the time but I do that if I am busy with something and want to do it to get it out of the way. There's not much else I do if the home phone rings like that. However, on the mobile, it's easier to know who is calling and unless it's a random that keeps calling for no reason then I would pick up.

I usually do, because it might be an emergency and the person on the other line might be in a hurry and would end the call if you let them wait too long. Also, we don't have caller ID on our home phone, and we don't have an answering machine either.

Hi icesmile
Same with me, I look at who's calling first and it really depends on the situation. If I'm in my leisure time and in serious time (do my homework or memorizing my text book, for example), I will answer call in quiet long time because I will say to myself "I'll answer it after I memorize this one" or "let me finish my juice first",,hehehe... But if I expecting calls, I will answer immedately (even if I don't know the number, who knows maybe he/she call from different number?)

I do not rush to answer my phone. If it is important they will leave a message. I have voicemail and caller ID so if I feel that it is important then I will answer. There are times when I do not feel like talking or I am in the middle of something so I do not pick up and I will call them back when I can talk.

for me if i have a telephone call i run to the place where our telephone is located.. its because other people who cant text me in their cellphone is calling me in our land line for some important messages... i dont care if the caller is making me mad... just for me every call is important... im not wondering if it is a non-sense call or not... :)

i think it can be done by case
first,as you said, you have different ring tones for different people,i think it is a good way to know whether to go rush to answer the phone or not.
second,if i am doing something like reading books, playing games or some staffs that should concentrate i'll nerve rush to the phone when it rings and maybe it will make me awful in that time.
in conclusive, there are three kinds of people's phone i should run to answer,my boyfriend, parents and friends, because they are the important people around you,you should cherish them.

I'm normally not the person responsible for picking up the phone, because my dad will usually pick up the phone (unless it's a call from one of my friends). If my dad's not home though, and the phone rings, I always think that my dad's going to pick it up, but then after a few rings I realize that he's not home and I rush to answer the phone before the person on the other end hangs up. That's my usual experience with phone calls at home. With my cell phone though, I usually try to answer every call that comes through (if I recognize the number) but I normally have a hard time extracting my phone out of my backpack or purse. It's quite a hassle, I should just find a better place to put it.

When I was a kid or so much younger, whenever the house phone was ringing, my siblings and I would rush to get to the phone!
Then, there were times when we started to get lazy to get the phone, and bullied our younger sister to pick up the phone.
Right now, if I hear the phone is ringing, I seldom pick it up especially when everyone is around and we all depend on our cell phones. However, if I am alone at home, I do rush and answer the house phone because I am scared it there is any emergency or something.
Since I have set a personalized ring tones for my hubby and family members for my cell phones, I wouldn't rush to get to it when it's ringing. Like you, if I don't recognize the number, I seldom pick it up.

Hi icesmile
Well i don't live in my home anymore, but when i used to stay there, hearing the phone ring i would guess it was mom's call(mostly it is) and so i would not rush if mom could not get to it, most of the time i would let mom lift up the call, i am not eager on receiving phone calls... i have a cell phone now, mostly it is my friends who call and when i see some unknown number i let it ring for a while and then pick it up.

When I am expecting a call, I always rush to the phone. When not, I care less. We even fight who answers the phone (siblings).

I don't often use my house phone. If someone important needs to get a hold of me, they will call my cell phone. I actually do not even give out my home phone if I don't have to. I use to use it all the time, but after so many telemarketers calling, I just gave up. So no, I don't rush to my house phone, nor do I really ever answer it. Yet, I will always see who is calling the cell, but if I am doing something important, I rarely drop everything to see who it is unless I am expecting a business call.

I use to rush to answer the phone before answering machines. Now I let them talk to the machine and if it is important then I will pick up the phone and talk to them. Never fails, when we are sitting down to dinner to be interupted by the silly phone ringing. Besides, I use to work for a institution where the phones always rang off the hook all day long and when I went home after work I did not want to continue answering phones.... To me the invention of the answering machine was a great one....smile..
