What is a halloween festival? What that term means?

What is Halloween festival. Nowadays in everywhere I am getting the term Halloween but have no idea on it. Do anybody here provide me some knowledge about the term and festival related to it?

Halloween originated with the Celtic festival Samhain, which was the celebration of the end of Summer. It was a harvest festival, as the last of the harvest was brought in and people prepared for the Winter months. It was believed that the veil between this life and the afterlife is thinnest on this day, so it became a time to celebrate ones ancestors.
