In this tough economy today, are selective of the job you want to do?

There are many people who don't care what kind of job they will do as long as they can earn money to support themselves and their family. For me? I still preferred job that is in my line of work. Some of my friend said why so selective? whatever job as long as there is income for it? No, not me, like for example they said, I will do CNA job because it is in demand? I can't do that. I preferred to be in school with the kids that in the home for the aged. I think, interest in work is also important to be effective and happy while working. what about you? Do you agree to do whatever as long as you have money?

I am tooi old to be selective as I am passses retirement age. I consider myself lucky to be working in a country that does not have social security benefits or medicare. Blessings

Yes, people should do whatever they need to do to take care of their families. People who don't want to work will suffer more when they are forced to work.

Hello Bebs. I think that I will still choose the same kind or similar job that I have been doing if I am to find some other job because I have been very familiar with my current job with better qualifications, which enables me to do a good job. If it is something new, it will take time and I am not sure whether I can do it well and make some benefits to support myself.

CORRECT!! I agree with you 100 percent. That's right!! How can you be effective in a job which you are not so familiar with? It is always good to work in the job you are used doing and you are so familiar of what you are going to do. You had experienced in it and it is not really hard while when you start a new one which you are not familiar with, it will take time.

I think it is important for me to choose a job. I would not do if go back for ten year before. for young people, it is not a thing, but for a middle-aged people,it is the other. The young my take up all kinds of jobs, and they will adaptat very easily, but for me, it is very difficult.

Sometimes people have to take a job that they can get because what they like to do is not available at the time. I stupidly quit my job after 2 years because my boss was such a jerk. Now i have to take a job that pays alot less. But for now i will work with this job until the right one comes along. When we aren't working the bills keep coming even though we aren't making money. So now it is time to play catch up. I don't want my family to have to suffer. As long as i can make some money, it will be ok. You just have to keep your eyes and ears open and when that job that you really want has an opening, apply for it and hope for the best. That's how i see it.

Excuse me, but I will line up with these unfortunate people, that lost their jobs, because of the crisis. I on the other hand, I have the opportunity to choose works, and I just changed my job. But not because I liked the one better than the other. Only, because in that way I earn more, and I am more calm and secure. The income makes people happy, you kno, because it means you will have a plate on the table for your kids, no matter what. Money really makes the world go round, whether we like it or not. Those happy days that people exchanged products for getting other products they luck of, are long gone.

Well, I agree with that too. My husband in like that. Even if he doesn't like his job he still do it because he is earning much in that. At this time I can still choose because he can still feed me if I have no work.. hehehe but you are right!!! most people preferred to do whatever as long as they can earn to feed the family. Maybe only me, who is selective that I would only work when it is in my line of work.

I know that it is really good to be working with the one that you really love doing. It is also what I believe. But as what is going with our economy nowadays, it is practical to work with whatever is in demand or available to be able to survive. Sometimes, we have no choice not unless we are lucky enough to be fortunate in life. But for those who have to work hard for food, well they don't have no choice but to accept any work that is available.

That's correct!! My hubby has his own business and you know? in business, the income is not consistent. Sometimes you are good and sometimes you are down to nothing...But then, we still survived even if he is the only one who has income. I'm trying to look for job but there's no vacancy for my line of work. But am still hoping that somehow I can find one.

I understand you my friend! How can you be effective in a job which does not interest you. To some people like you, earning is not the only reason why they work. It is also self satisfaction. I am also like that. The feeling that your talent and skill are not wasted at all because you can apply them in your job matters most. If your skill is in teaching it is but natural that you seek job in line with this and it is your prerogative to decline other jobs not related to it. That is your personality and you alone knows where are you gonna be happy so I am one with you in that principle.

Good my friend, at least I am not alone in this principle. hahaha.. there are many immigrants here who are degree holders but they worked as server in restaurants, house cleaning, baby sitting, grocery store, or else study 3 months as CNA and work on that. They don't care what job as long as they have dollars. Most of them are not h appy with their work but they did it for money. I also do some house cleaning but only in our house hahaha and sometimes in the house of my Filipina friend who is so busy and needs help. But I am glad that I am driving now and worked as substitute teacher in a private school near me. But just waiting if somebody will be absent then I can have work.. hahaha that's better than nothing. I am not planning also to take a state license for my degree because I don't like the attitudes of the kids here. I can work also in the library since I have a degree on that. Let's just try to see where God leads me.
