Are there any names that you hate to be called? You know the sort of thing, people mean them as a general greeting or term of affection. Some of them are regional & others just drift into common usage.
I can deal with 'dear'; 'my love'; 'duck' but 'swee-tart' & 'sug' (as in short for sugar) are pushing it! The ones I really cannot stand are 'hun' and 'babe(s)'- particularly the latter. I could easily swing for people who call me those ...or else call them by a term of my choosing!
Which terms get to you?

Names that I dislike being called would be "hun" (I hate that one, especially when being called that way by a co-worker, or someone who has just met me), "babe" "doll" (if a guy is trying to pick you up. I mean c'mon, can you think of something better?)...
"Hun" gets to me the most. For example "thanks, hun", in a work environmnent, where we don't share with our co workers nothing more than a square office space, same kitchen sink, and maybe same copy machine. But otherwise, why would you call me that? I sometimes think it's derogatory, not darling. I don't know for sure on that one, I still have to study the "cat fight" more.

I am gay. But I really hate uneducated people who would call me by that. I think we still deserves respect and that they should address us properly and with great respect. They should even be more ashame to their selves because despite our standings, we have the best economic status compared to them because we are working hard.

Hi wizzywig, I'm trying to think back to the English ones as I'm sure there were more than those you mentioned. I do remember hating 'duck' though. Anything familiar if it comes from someone selling something. The ones out here are much nicer and are generally 'my love' and 'my baby' in Greek, by friends. The one I do object to is 'kria kolla'.

I was named after my fraternal grandmother. It sounds really old so as much as possible i dont like to be called by my real name. I only use it for formal writings.
