I recently made a topic about home buying and of course a lot of people are saying that its a bad time to buy a home, and they might be right I've also seen the news on the housing market, but the fact of the matter is it may be a long time before the housing market improves and frankly I'd rather not waite that long if I can help it. anyway I was just wondering if any of you purchased a home this year or recently? and if so, are you happy with how things turned out?

I'm curious as to why you say it is a bad time to buy? The market is flooded with foreclosed houses and they are awful cheap. That plus the government incentive (I think it has been extended), it seems like a win win to me. Unfortunately I'm only 17 so I don't have the money to buy one at the moment but for a first time home buyer, I think now is a great time. However, I can see why it wouldn't be for a person selling a home and buy a new one. But that same problem makes it a good market for people only looking to buy.

I didn't. but we were thinking of selling ours and get a bigger one
hubby didn't want to do it right away though
we are not sure if it's good time to sell for price is dropping due to recession
I heard it's getting better now that recovery is on the way
so maybe buying a house now is not a bad idea before prices go up again

We've not bought a house recently, but hope to rent one by this time next year. The economy is bad and so it's getting more and more difficult to buy a home because of it. We are definitely going to wait until we've saved up a few month's estimation of rent before we go out and look for a place. We assume it'll be anywhere from $400 to $1000 to rent a house here, so atleast $1000 to be saved, and that's not even counting money for other expenses such as turning on the power, etc.
Different areas are being affected differently I am sure, I've not been listening to the news lately to find out how the housing market is doing.
