God is a myth. It seems man created God because of fear. It was and still is very nice and comfortable to think that there is someone infinitely greater than us and he loves us and protect us and also punishes those who dare to do what we dislike to do.

God is not a myth. You think it so , because of no one prove their existance in physical or other evidence for others. Its only experienced thing that is not share others. Everyone need to be experienced their own practice.
And yes, fear and all dark things are ended after to find them.

efc, I wonder what issues you have with God that you say he has 'mistreated' us. Your children know that you are their father (I suppose) because you have always been there for them ... unlike many fathers who have, nevertheless, been loved by their children against many odds.
I'm unclear where you stand with God but it appears that you expect Him to make Himself known to you regardless of whether you are ready to recognise Him or not. The fact is that He is always with us ... you ... (indeed, whether we like it or not) but it takes some sign of recognition (capitulation, some might say) from ourselves before we find a warm smile and a voice saying: "Ah, I was wondering when you'd come!"

Hi bird, I am the father of four children and am wondering what would happen to them if I had played hide and seek with them. Would I be a God? I am sure they would have survive without me and it seems as if we are in the same boat looking for the Heavenly Father, the Creator. I don't think my children would care to meet me after treating them the way God treated us. Somehow, most people on this planet doesn't care a hoot how He treated them. I guess they are blessed.

God doesn't play hide and seek...he is with me every day and when I take the time to converse with him, I can actually hear him speak.
Seek him and He will be found.

If 'man created God because of fear' then are you saying that they created the idea of auch a Person in order to have something to fear or because they were fearful that life seemed random (and therefore fearful) and needed something to cling to ... something to love - that even demanded our love - and that was unchangeable and forgiving?
Both views are valid, of course, depending on which religion you study. You are right that God (as most people envisage Him) is a myth. Believe me, though, He knows how to deal with that.
There's little point in going into detail here about who/what God really is; who (and why) Jesus, along with others, is so important; what 'sin' really is; why 'God allows bad things to happen' and what is the real purpose of prayer (and why it often doesn't appear to work). Anyone who really wants to know these things and opens their mind will find the answers. Some of the answers may well be uncomfortable and those people who find them so will very likely turn back to the comfortable well-ploughed fields of religion or, alternatively, subside into non-religion or atheism.

If you don't believe there is a god, why do you bother with the topic at all? I've never understood this among some atheists. I hope you don't complain about people who proselyte for their beliefs since you do also.

Para, Atheists are often as proselytising as the most fervent 'Christian' for very much the same reason: they feel that people, as a whole, are seriously misled about the truth and it is as important to them to try to disabuse them of their misconceptions as it is to you to try to show Liberals and Socialists that they are barking up the wrong tree.

Para...I always wondered about that too...why do those who claim to have no belief or no religion, continue to post in these categories. Could it possibly be that they just want to rowl us all up?

You have a right to your opinion. I see God as real and as you describe.

Jb, there are some - a few - who really do KNOW. Others believe they know (or don't know) or believe that others are wrong to believe what they believe.
It is possible to 'know' rather than to 'believe' but the people who 'know' are rather harder to find because they are mostly silent.

I believe in God (as creator, sustainer and as the Life force and spirit of life itself) because of my studies and contemplations in world religion and in science, especially the laws of science (what can and cannot occur). Also my study of life and people.. all the unique wonderful people.. why the human smile alone, convinces me that there is God.. besides my hearing his silent profound wisdom (thoughts?ideas) when I am quietly reposed in prayer and meditation/contemplation where deep peace becomes a fountain of joy.

Besides feeling man created God because of fear, why do you believe that God is a myth?

The way you put it and if anyone believes it so, then yes that God is a myth. I think the problem stems from the way we see God. The preachers nowadays have only spoken from theoretical aspects and can't understand the nature of what we call God. Actually, the realized souls have put it so eloquently and don't say God is an old man in the sky who gives to those who do good and punishes those who do bad. They say that God is our very own nature, beyond this world, mind, and body. They say it is the mind and it's desires which has created this world of cause and effect, and we live according to our own actions. We experience good and bad according to our own wishes. Beyond all this is the absolute which is full of love and the only true existence that is. All this we experience is not the reality, but a mind made phenomenon. Once we want to go back home, we just have to do a little practice and voila......we were never born and we never die.

God is real and maybe some do not want to accept that but if they would keep seeing and seeking and wanting to know, you will know. Ask and keep asking the main sorce God himself then ask in Jesus name you WILL get an answer if you do not give up. Do not take away hope from others or children because without hope there is nothing and without hope there is no future. I was confused and wanted to know why so many this and that and I just ask and I WANTED TO KNOW..and I found out..There is many gods but only ONE REAL GOD over all...we where made and sent here for His purpose and to please Him but a big choice is to be made DO you REALLY want to know , you have to seek first the kingdom the rest will follow. If you really want the truth and to know KEEP SEEKING but never say there is not untill you know. You also have to show there is not..you cannot show this untl you seek and know..so keep seeking..you do want to know or you would have never mention it keep on and ask God to show you He will..ask in Jesus name..
