I used to love collecting Sea glass as a little girl so when I came across a Sea Glass beach at Fort Bragg in Northern California I was naturally ver excited. Finding this beach sparked my interest in sea glass once again. I am just curious to know if anyone around here collects it and if so where? I am also interested to know about other Sea glass beaches.

Sea glass can be found on almost any beach where people sit and have a drink out of a glass bottle. I prefer to choose beaches that have bonfires and such on a regular basis as they often have a lot of glass there. Sea glass is just small shards of sanded down glass.
The glass has literally been sanded down from years and years of sand and water tumbling it. Look for green, brown, clear and maybe even blue pieces of sea glass. I have the best luck when I look really close to the ocean right where the water starts and up towards the beach about 10 feet. It is easiest to see the sea glass on sand that has been flattened by the water. On busy beaches plan to go early in the morning so that you get the best pieces as there may be other hunters out there. Hope this helps! Have a good one!

Thanks that helps a lot. I have found clear rocks I thought that was just a rock but I think it was sea glass now. We don't have beaches here where we live. But I will look when we get to go to CA again. Thanks have a great day! Oh hope you find lots of sea glass!

I've seen it in the last two (2) years during my visit to Sabah, Malaysia. My tours was for pearls farming area, fortunately, the divers surfaced with the Sea Glass which was very colorful. From this point of time, I had learned about Sea Glass also known as Sea Pottery, Lucky Tears, Mermaid's Tears, and Beach Glass in the form of various oolors and shapes.
The amazing thing was, the divers shown me how to compare between the artificial one which is called as Craft Glass and what they have had discovered (true Sea Glass). The original Sea Glass can be determined by its etched surface due to long time exposure to the sea water condition, whereas, the Craft Glass very obvious had undergone grinding and polishing processes.
Finally, the funny thing is most of the Sea Glass formed from the broken glass littered into the sea many years ago, the divers told me.
