As I was growing up, I really loved German Shepherds (Alsatians) because I grew up with my uncle’s dog. I also loved & wanted a Dalmatian because I loved the idea that they don’t have a doggy smell due to them having the same kidney set up as a human. Now I would have to say that my fave breed is the Saffy (Staffordshire Bullterrior). I own 2. I love Staffies because they are real sooks – so much for the stereo type of them being viscious.

We have always had Saints. They are messy and sometimes a little clumsy, but you don't know what it's like to be loved by a dog until you know one of these guys. I'm not knocking other breeds, I know evveryone feels that way about their chosen dog.
And they do give great hugs..all 180 pounds of them. But, only if invited to do so.

I agree - the bigger the dog, the bigger & better the hugs...my dogs are only about 25 kgs (40-50lbs) & they give awesome hugs

I am not to sure I can pick one favorite- they all are so different.
I have Collies now- I think they are great. Very smart and gentle natured.
and of Beautiful. :-)
But I love all the mutts I have had.
If I got more purebred dogs. I would chose German Shepherds because they are so versatile and I just love the look of them.
I also love GREAT DANES- I really really want one. A harlequin.
I think when I am older and have decided to move away from big dogs I will try Papillon's or Corgi's.
But really I think everyone should save a mutt. they are just splendid and there are so many in need of homes.

I feel whatever breed you keep, you start loving your dog the moment it enter your house. Since my childhood we had been keeping lasa Apso breed in our house. They are small with very long hair that even their eyes are not visible. Every Sunday, I had to spend few hours to sponge or bath him and brush his silky hair. He would run away just seeing his hair brush and then I had to go after him, leash him and then brush him. It always was very tiring both for him and me. But now after my marriage, my husband persuaded me to keep dachshund breed dog. Now I find this breed so intelligent and neat & clean that I can not even think of keeping any other breed.

I have always like Dalmatians, not only beecause they are really nice looking dogs, but because they are from a part of the world (Croatia) that has always interested me. My sister prefers Daschunds.

Another good reason to love them!!
As for them being from Croatia, the name of the breed says it all. Dalmatia is a region in Croatia, and is located in the Southern part of the country. Their get their name from there.

My favorite dogbreed is the labrador. They might not be the smartest breed of dogs but they are very playful and lovable. I used to own one black labrador all she knows is how to sit but she has always been very affectionate. She follows me wherever I go or would just lay down near my feet. She's very friendly with people.

labradors are great...one of my friends has one...they are pretty smart as far as I'm concerned as they are normally the only breed they use to train as guide dogs for the blind & dogs to help with the disabled, etc.
