Humans evolved from apes, scientists say. Religiously God created humans. Scientifically, initially there were three gases in the atmosphere namely methane, water vapour and ammonia. As these gases reacted, they gave rise to carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen which are essential for life and yet religiously God created ALL things. Is science to dominate religion? Do they mix in any way?

Those all are hypothesis and theories, not proven facts. I'm a Muslim and Islam never contradicted with established facts of science. Islam and Science goes like friends.

Humans did not evolve from apes. Scientists do not say that. Rather, both apes and humans evolved from a lower ancestor but not directly from each other. As far as I can see there is irrefutable evidence for evolution but there does not have to be a conflict with religion. The only conflict occurs with those denominations that take the bible literally. The story of creation is a magnificent depiction of evolution measured in God's days. There was darkness, then came light, then water, then plants and animals and lastly humans. So I don't see a problem of taking the story of creation as an allegory for evolution.
