Many graduates cannot find a job as the economic situation is still in all-time low. So many of them are regretting entering university. If they didn't attend university, they would have more free time do gain enough social experience. They are called green-handed by many enterpises. As they lack working experience, many companies refuse to employ them because they are green. So i just want to ask this question: is it necessary to attend a university?

It depends on what your aspiration in life are. If you want to be a plumber you can take a good apprenticeship and earn as much as a university professor in my country. You can also attend a community college and become a technician, the time is shorter and you can apply for a job quicker but if you want to rise in your company the lack of an engineering degree from university can prevent you from achiveing your goal. Auto mechanics do not need a university degree but increasingly they need to be computer literate so they need to finish high school and enter a good training program with a licence at the end. Even now factory workers need good literacy.
Say you did finish university and receive a degree but cannot find a job in your field straight away you will always have that diploma. The education does not make your head heavier and it is not hard to carry around with you. Who knows one day it may even be useful.

I think it is much better now a days to be practical if you don't have money to attend the university why not go to vocational schools. Sometimes the graduates of vocational schools are more successful than to the university graduates. Because of the economic downturn many fresh graduateds can't find a suitable jobs for them.

I agree with Lindalinda. It really depends on your aspiration. If you have big aspirations, you should finish your studies by attending a university so that you'll have greater chances than those who have not finished their schooling.
Education is very important, it is something that cannot be taken away from you. It also one way of improving oneself. If you're a person who continuously loves to learn new things, going to college/university should not be a trouble for you.
Finishing studies is also one way to be proud of oneself, it is one of the greatest achievements a human can achieve.

Depends on what you want to do with your life. There are careers out there that don't require it. But even some of those, like carpenter, can be helped if you have a degree (easier to get your contractor's license for example). But I think these people have faulty reasoning. If they got a job and got experience, in some cases that might be a good reason to not get a degree. Missing out on a social life isn't a valid reason, in my opinion.

In my opinion it is not necessary to attend the university but it is very good. The economy may be on an all time low today but it will rebound in time to come and i am sure there would be a lot of jobs. There is no need regreting going to the university because one day, it would pay off

It would be nice to attend college and graduate the course you have enrolled in the least possible time. Its still one of the number one requirements by companies hiring for new jobs. But sometimes its not always the case. Vocational schools which focused on the in-demand short courses her and abroad is sometimes the best option for any person who wanted to study in a shorter period and ensuring a job after graduated.

I would have to say that attening a university is not essential. I hated high school and left with hardly any grades but did most of my learning in the early employment starting at the bottom and learning the trade. I am now an IT manager mixing it with all the university types but have found that my life experiences in life have given me more experience that sitting behind a desk of book does not teach?

I beleive it is necessary to get a college diploma. You're in saying that many graduates can't find a job, how much more those who don't have a college degree. It would be more difficult for them to find a job.

I know that i am not. I do not think that it is not necessary at all times. Some people like me i have already been given job offers for large salaries and i am not even out of highschool. That is just because i am really good at what i do during the summer and my free time.

I'm attending university. Do i think that it's a good idea to attend university? Sure. I do think that it's a good idea. However, I don't think that it's necessary to attend university. I think that it's all up to the individual in question. Attending university has its ups and downs, just like not attending university, as well as a lot of other things. I still stand by that attending university or not is all up to the individual in question.

Yes, maybe it depends. For more knowledge, i should go to university. Maybe we should think that you can get a job offter if you graduate from university. We should think we go to university to acquire knowledge. In this way we will think it is a better place.

Well, I think its a necessary to be in university and graduate because if you want to work you need a certificates.
But, i agree with your opinion that when we have so many graduates.
Many company make this excuses as they only have many choices.
In my country 20 years ago where there are not may graduates they easily find the job.
There is no such thing lack of experiences but you can learn during you working and learn from experience.
Nowadays, you need to start from below and find good experiences first.

hi andy,
For me attending university is a great opportunity to hone our skills and to gain some knowledge which we can use in our future. Diplomas or certificates are needed to have a better career especially if you want to have a high paying job. But not all who attended some college/university had great lives, I mean in terms of career or financial status. Our success also depends on our ability, there are people who didn't have a degree but were able to have a well paid job. Like people who make money on the internet. I have heard stories that there some who just graduated high school and now have a multi-million dollar company.

It depends on whatever you want. If you are thinking about money, the university is a plus but in these times it doesn`t guarantee to get a very good job. In my case, I graduate from the university but now I am working in something totally diferent.
On the other hand, the university gives you education, different perspectives of the world. Some classes in my university reminds me that not everything in life is about money.
But, of course all of these depends on the how do you visualize your life.

No it is not necessary.
I'm currently studying physiotherapy/physical therapy at university. It just depends what you want to do with your life. What sort of working conditions do you want to work in? What sort of income would you be comfortable with? Are you prestige conscious?
If you don't like the idea of university, or are having difficulty gaining entrance into your desired course, then certainly it isn't a must. People of significant repute around the world have not initially attended university. It really depends on what you want to do, for instance if you want to be a professional such as an accountant, lawyer doctor or even physical therapist, then to gain entrance into those professions then yes, you must have have a degree in that field in order to practice those skills.
Conversely, if you are interested in working in the trades, like becoming an electrician, plumber, carpenter and non-university type educational fields, then university is not required, and you can be quite successful monetarily.
Similarly, you can start a small business in an area that you believe you have tangible experience and knowledge in, this can be achieved without a university degree.
In conclusion, one can be a successful individual in society without a university degree, it just depends on what you want to achieve and how determined and good you are at your chosen field. That is, you can have multiple degrees, but if you barely passed these degrees then your not going to be successful. And vice versa.
Best of Luck

Hello andy555 this is checkmail and according to me yes its necessary to attend the university for various diff courses and further studies apart from colleges.University is like an offline things but very imp, we can adjust our time as well as our university time for studying doing job or business also.So its comfort to study while you are earning. And according to me we must keep on studying rather than waste time on fake socail experiences.

It is and it isn't, depending what you want exactly from life. However, I'll come with a side story. There was a recent study inside the EU which showed that almost 40% of people with university degrees, have jobs in a different field than their university studies. Some particular countries are close to... 80% !!! Something is wrong somewhere...
