Personally we decided not to have children so that we could get to know each other since we didn't live together before we got married. We figured it was a good idea to learn who we were together before we brought another person who's dependent on us into the mix.

Well, no matter how long you dated if you've not living together you don't know each other as well as you might otherwise and it makes no sense to bring a child into that before you're ready, JMO.

I think this will depend on the couple.this will depend on their lifestyle.some prefer not having children.some are too concentrate in work.for me,I want to have twins,a boy and a girl.it's enough for me.

I have three children: a teenage son, a toddler son and a baby daughter. If I hadn't been able to get pregnant I would have hoped to adopt a girl and a boy that needed to be adopted.
These days some couples like to have careers that keep them very busy. They wouldn't want to have children messing up their smart house. Other couples like to have a lifestyle that wouldn't be so easy if they had children. Like they might spend every weekend climbing up mountains or doing water sports. A couple that live near an airport and often go off traveling might not wish to have kids.

I had two children and my daughters have chidren too. But my brother does not have children. He married a cousin and they decided not to have a child that could have genetic problems.
Many young couples are now too absorbed in their jobs and other activities and have less time for a traditional family. Having kids is expensive and a lot of work.
As for myself, I canĀ“t imagine my life without my girls even though being a mother is a lifetime job.
Take care!

I knew from the time that I was a young child that I wanted to have children of my own. I now have two children, a little boy and a little girl. I'm not planning on having any more. They are the light of my life and I couldn't imagine what kind of life I would have if I didn't have them.
I do believe that the reason that many people today are deciding not to have children is because a lot of younger people today are a lot more career oriented than they were in the past.
