Installing Windows 7 over Windows Vista

November 2, 2009 4:13pm CST
I bought my laptop ACER 2920Z last May and it has a pre-installed Windows Vista. I don't Windows Vista because it is so slow. My actual laptop memory consumed is just 1/4 of it and it seems it runs like it is full. I did defragment and disk clean up it but still it is so slow. I heard about the wonderful reviews of Windows 7. Does anyone have it installed already? Please tell me how you did it. Thanks!

If you want to upgrade to windows 7 then there's a very valuable tool that I think you should use. I have enclosed the link below. This is a free download from Microsoft and it scans your system to let you know if your computer is able to handle the upgrade. I would strongly advise that you do this first. Good luck. thanks for the comment andrew. I already downloaded that application and it said that I can upgrade to 32 bit Home premium or Ultimate edition of Windows 7. hmmm i think i better wait first. A friend of mine said that I have to wait for acer to release the drivers for windows 7 or my upgrade will be in vain. so i think i better wait first. thanks, andrew.

I'm currently running win 7 RC1 - did an install on top of a pre-installed vista (i agree vista sucks) - no problems, you can easilly upgrade. It's the other way you'll run into problems, it's hard to downgrade to XP.
