Apples are magic, so yes. Eating one a day will prevent you from ever getting sick. It'll also prevent you from aging or dying from injury, so it makes you immortal.
That was a joke.
Fruits (and vegetables) are supposed to help strengthen your immune system, but no food can guarantee immunity to all diseases. So no, eating apples may help a bit in avoiding sickness, but it's not going to make you a superhuman who never gets ill.

I agree. No amount of apples or any other "super" food can guarantee immunity to all diseases. I think it will only help you get indigestion if you eat too much

I don't it's a matter of opinion it's a matter of knowing the nutrition facts of an Apple. Like what they always say "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." I was able to find a few links explaining the benefits of apples. Here's a few:

Hi bettydeng5!
Basing on what a friend told me just a month ago, this is already a fallacy nowadays. Not exactly a false statement, but it has somewhat evolved. It used to be one apple a day back in the 1970's. But now, we're nearing 2010, amidst a world of high-end technology, pollution, etc. The nutrients found in one apple is not enough to keep diseases at bay nowadays. I think if I'm correct, the amount has increased to 5 apples per day already.

Wow,need to have 5pcs happle one day? It sounds very difficult for me, I nearly have one apple everyday, and it's expensive to buy apple from the supermarket, so I need to consider to have more.

Most fruits, nuts and vegitables are full of anti oxidates and omega fatty acids; apples included. Im not sure if there have ever been any studies conducted on apples preventing disease, maybe you can try to type it in on ask.com? All I know is that eating a healthy diet promotes healthy living. I hope this helps -_o .

Eating any fruits or vegetables is good for your health. I'm not sure if it can really prevent any specific diseases but I do know that it'll certainly help to boost up your immune system if you have more vitamins and minerals. It'll definitely help with getting sick less often than usual, so why not have a little more than one apple a day?

I don't know. Basically, I don't know how apple can avoid diseases, how's it different from other fruits. I think I heard before that apples can somehow minimize memory loss but never heard of it trying to avoid any diseases.

What i think is that fruits and green, leafy vegetables help raise your immune system to protect your body from some sicknesses. Sicknesses like viral infections(fevers, flu, etc.), bacterial infections, that kinda stuff. So i would say no, eating one apple a day doesn't help avoid ANY sickness, just some.

I think that increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables would help improve ones health but I do not think that it will avoid diseases just decreases the chances of getting one.
Improve health by getting a good nutritional balance and the antioxidants that are in the different kinds of fruits and vegetables other than just apples. I think the more junk food/sugar and processed foods people eat cause them to get sick, overweight, and lead to diseases like diabetes/heart disease/ high blood pressure and the like.
