till what time is good to breast feeding??

the pediatrician is very happy i`m still breast feeding.. my baby is one year and she is having mix feeding... breast and regular milk, plus food and fruit and veggies. my gynecologist is also very happy he told i have to do it for as long i`m able, it will prevent me to have breast cancer, specially because i my mom has it and died for it... but ussually people think till 6 month is more that enough.... what do u think and do???
