investing or gambling in hyip?

i read a post in investdad forum saying that hyip should be renamed to hygp (high-yield gambling program) instead of high-yield investment program because it is simply gambling & nothing of the sort investing.
you give a total stranger some cash and gamble on the possibility that, over time, you will get your cash back with some profit.
i found it to be so true (but i'm still getting involved).
how about you? what's your comment about the statement?

I wouldn't invest a single centavo in HYIP. My brother in law has been victimized by this.. He lost a sum of money. I wouldn't dare to lose my money.

i joined those long-term ones like verifield, geniusfunds, infinitiva, panamoney, etc. these are more trusted & have been around for quite a long time.

most of them invest in forex, stocks, & shares. but of course there are thousands of hyip out there claim that they are investing on these too but are unreal. anyway, it is really risky to invest in hyip because they never disclose their earnings from the so-called business in details.

lol =D Be it investing or gambling, it does not make any difference, for ple whom knows it.. But they have to use that 'name', investing, because all online payment processors does not allow transaction that involves gambling.. lol =D
As such, it's more like a smoke screeen to hide from those actual dealings going under the table.. lol =D ANd since those investment programs are doing good, so alot of ple tend to be tempted by the fast money ^_^

great response & well spoken! now you are giving the reason why they have to stick with the name hyip instead of hygp!
but of course, the word investing also promote respectability to hyip as if people were investing in stocks or shares. that's what hook people to join & earn the fast money, thinking that it is really that promising (including me ).

This is not true, sustainable hyip with lower income can pay for more than a year but people like the hyips that die fast because they pay more profit to the members.
I would call the fast hyips for gamble yes but not the once that work for more than a year ^^

Hmm sustainable was maybe a wrong word for it :D All hyips die but some die slower.

short-term hyips usually vanished before entering 2-4 weeks of their operation, while long-term hyips usually vanished after 4-8 months of their operation.
but of course, there are long surviving hyip like allworldhyip, stable interest, nanomoneycorp, investment forge, genius funds, etc. that have been around for years.
as long as money keeps going in, they will survive. but still, it is a kind of gambling. no one can offer you ongoing 2-3% yield on your investment, not even any top brokers around the world.

But gamble is a wrong word because it's about luck. Here it's all about joining a site that get a lot of investments, it's more a skill than luck.

it's alright, basically it's someone who claims to be with an investment company giving you a very high interest in return (upon maturity) if you invest your money in their plans.

Hi, victorywp - I just made a comment in a separate thread related to HYIP and there I said that it is indeed a Game. I find your comment here very interesting and I totally agree with you and the though of renaming of HYIP to HYGP is such a valid point. And like you I also do not believe that I am "investing" but getting involved.
The person who coined this term, HYGP, is a real genius!

a game? a gambling game? or an investing game?
so we are still getting involved in hyip although we knew that it is actually hygp.

yeah, that's most probably the reason why we are still getting involved.

A game is for entertainment. Investment is serious staff, game is not. So HYIP is kind of a gambling game to me. so it is really kind of a HYGP :) We, who knows it is HYGP, are getting involved probably not because we want to get rich quickly but to test our chance of wining a gamble, maybe.

good, because it is simply a gambling. it makes you think that you are investing into something but actually you are gambling into it.

you need to do a lot of research before you invest/gamble into an hyip (aka hygp). it is highly not recommended for everyone.

that's what i mean, it's a gambling. we don't know who's on the other side but we give them our money & expect a profit over time. i once lost over $110 in hyips but now closing the losing gap to be around $20 loss.

the gambling part is limited to deciding what program to invest in. and that is really a tricky part as there are mostly scams. however investment in stocks and forex is certainly high yielding provided the dealing persons have enough expertise, which again is difficult to judge before actually investing.

but anyhow, we don't know who is the person at the other end & we are gambling that our money will earn some profit over time.

hi there..
i also accept to the fact that the hyips are more or less like a gamble and is very risky.. but i think there are a few hyip which are legitimate and pays of decent returns to the investors.. over all i think it is good for short term returns...
cheers...

no matter how legitimate they are, it is still a gambling because it is stated very clearly in their terms that you might lose money & they do not guarantee the return on your investment.

Well, I heard some good things in genius funds about HYIP ? i don't know much as I'm not interested to invest in this type of business but from my research it is the best out there. I still think gambling/ forex/ HYIP use too much luck and not so much skill. I'd rather be a writer or something that I can earn real money from. No one is going to give you a lot of money for free.

it's true that genius funds is currently one of the top in the hyip indsutry. their rate is sustainable, they use a lot of payment processors, support is good, available in many languages, etc.
yes, you are right. we should earn money by ourselves & not through this type of investment/gambling.
