I Dont get the Problem.I get an Error after 3%

last time when i have formatted the system as usually i have installed all the drivers and came to know that i am not able to write a cd/dvd.i am using nero 8.whenever i select all the files to be written on to the dvd and start burning.every thing seems goes well for the first 2% and then once it enters 3% it shows an error saying burning of disk has failed.i dont get the reason is there any problem with the dvd drive or some thing else.i have even tried using different nero versions but the same repeats.i have even tried to search in google but none of these kind of questions were answered.i thought i can find an answer here.i have an sony dvd/rw.

hello...
i've run into such issues quite often in the past.
someone suggested you try another speed, that would be a good start, you can do it right from nero itself. some discs even if mentioned would be at some speed are indeed compatible with lower ones.
next if it is only from HDD to CD/DVD & you don't experience this when doing a DVD copy, then it may be a problem with the transfer, again a lower speed burn would help diagnose. then check out if your hard-disk has no bad clusters or is not too fragmented. run a chkdsk on it.
you must be sure if the drives (HDD/DVD) are IDE ones, that they are well configured, check out if they are connected on the same cable, then on device manager - IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers - Primary or Secondary IDE Channel - Tab: Advanced settings, the transfer mode preferred & the current tansfer mode should read DMA if available & Ultra DMA ...
else you may get a low performance or failure.
if all fails, look for a firmware update on the net & flash your DVD Writer, try again & then if needed try it on another PC ...
all these so requires some ease with the PC/Windows Environment, if necessary seek assistance. i also assume you already tried the lens cleaner, etc ...

richy thank you that was very informative.i have tried to decrease the speed at which nero burns the dvd and it seems to be working now.and the information provided is very useful coz any other time i come accross this kind of problem i would follow the steps mentioned above.thanks for responding.great day.

then is your computer works from a long time shut down it and use after some time. some time system could not respond when it works very much. if this could not solve your problem check your writing buffer. if the buffer is down while writing your lense will not work properly and than consult your pc delar. have a nice day.

i never came accross such problem in the past though i run the system for long hours.i think there is something wrong with the lens of the dvd writer.thank you for responding.great day.

Sony DVD/RW always having comptability problems and other issues.. though I have sony only in my system ;-) you try to burn CD/DVD with some other software like PowerISO / Windows inbuilt writing system. and also try to use Sony CD-DVD.. if problem persist just send hardware to local vendor which will clean lens.

this is the first time ever i had a problem with my sony dvd writer lovedude.now the problem has been solved i adjusted the lens and changed the speed at which it writes the dvd.thank you for your response love dude.great day.

hi sunnycool,
if you are getting this error only when you are burning any cd through Nero? you can try simple copy and paste some files and try to write that files to cd. check if it happened, and if it is still hard to write files to cd then i think there might be some problem with your drive, try to clean lens of your drive or change with another one.

i try to write a new cd/dvd then it shows this error.lens how would i clean those or how much does it cost to buy new lens.i have no idea regarding the dvd drive coz i havent touched it till now.could you be more precise and explain it.
